The perfect package, nice truck. I must have missed it but was the truck already converted to 8 lug when you bought it? What axles are you running? Swapping a full floating 14 bolt in the rear was the best thing I ever did to my 79 K5.

I picked up an 85 not too long ago, so I'm also in the learning phase. I wanted to do a weber carb upgrade, and found a 1.8 liter engine, and 4 speed trans with a weber carb, starter, alt, exhaust header, etc for $150. Cheaper than just the carb I was going to buy. I'm getting the engine sorted...

I have a G30 I am wanting to convert. I even thought of using a dana 50 TTB to keep it low. Mine is a cut-a-way box truck so height is a concern.

I would not worry, Dana 60's were used by Chevrolet, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Ford and Land Rover.

What is the rod recall?

The factory brakes are for 2 wheel drive. They mount to the back of the transmission, not the transfer case. They are around 1K used. Too expensive if I have to make many modifications to get it to work.
