    ARB Air Locker "replica"

When you factor in how much it'll cost to get one of these installed and set up right, I just can't see taking a risk over a few hundred $$. Not to mention whatever ethical issues you have over buying a blatant copy of a product, but I guess that's up to you. At a previous employer I was told a...

Cherokee 3.0 crd / Wrangler swap can it be done yes

Guess if it were me then I'd pick an engine that wasn't so 'locked down'. Find something that just has the ECU run the motor and maybe interface with the transmission, and go from there. But hey its your money and time, so I say go for it and let us all watch the build :)

Cherokee 3.0 crd / Wrangler swap can it be done yes

My opinion: I would use just the engine from the GC and adapt it to the JK transmission/tcase. Leave the JK solid axles in place, I can't see any possible advantage to converting it to a complicated independent suspension. You'd have to fabricate some motor mounts, and that should be about it...

    All-Purpose Scout 80 build

Ever notice how those hood hinges are easier to move when they're almost closed than when they're open? That's the effect of motion ratio i'm talking about, not ideal for suspension performance. I'm a suspension dork, its what I studied in school (Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on...

    All-Purpose Scout 80 build

You guys are referring to cantilever suspension designs, using a bellcrank with unequal length arms to gain (or reduce) motion ratio. I've actually designed several before, one for our FSAE car in college, which used a 4" travel shock to get 2" of wheel travel, and one for my old Toyota T100...

    All-Purpose Scout 80 build

Minor update, nothing terribly exciting. The rear axle is slightly narrower than the front, so I am running into similar shock mounting issues as I had with the front coilovers. I'd like to package the rear shocks outside of the frame in the wheel well, otherwise I'm severely length limited...

    Post up your drawer/storage system

NICE WORK! That looks extremely clean and professional. I'd be very interested if you have any details on construction, parts sources, etc but I understand if you're not sharing.

    Tire size considerations

I think the 'advice' you're getting is that a larger tire would look better with your lift. You don't need any lift to fit the size you're running now, and I believe you could fit a 35 with minor trimming with a 3/1 lift. Then your truck will look cooler, get worse MPG, have worse overall...

    Tire size considerations

If the current size tires get you to where yo want to go, there's no real reason for upgrading. Is looking cool worth the MPG hit? And it will be substantial going from 33's to 35's, have no doubt. I have the same size tires with no lift on my Tundra, and they will get me anywhere I should be...

    Mag antenna mounting

Or I was thinking a small piece of clear static-adhering film on that spot on the roof. You'd never see it up there, and if it gets scratched up after a few years of installing and removing the antenna you can throw a new piece on.

"So I found this thing on Craigslist..." Tacoma Camper Build [djmase]

Yep 90% of the time its just me and the dog, and the camper shell works awesome for that. I've been planning to build a drawer system like you had, just haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm on the east end of town but drive all over. Gray doublecab tundra with a camper shell with steekers. You...

"So I found this thing on Craigslist..." Tacoma Camper Build [djmase]

Surprised I haven't seen your truck around town. Its looking well set up! I'm still in the 'a camper shell on a pickup truck works' phase, but I keep looking enviously at pop-up campers.

I think these are spoken for, will post back up if the deal falls through.

    Mag antenna mounting

Is the roof aluminum? If not, why not just use the mag mount antennas on the roof? That probably get you the best ground plane short of actually mounting them properly.

Toyota Valve and timing belt tools, axle rebuild kits

OK I am sick of tripping over this stuff. If anyone can use it let me know, otherwise its going in the dumpster in a week. I should be able to fit most/all of it in a large flat rate box for $18 shipping.

    All-Purpose Scout 80 build

Sure doesn't look as tall when you're not 3' from it, huh? Right now the front coilovers are sitting at 7"up/5" down, I designed the 3-link for the reverse (5" up/7" down). The rear is level with the front at that ride height, and I think it'll give me a decent balance between bump compliance...

    All-Purpose Scout 80 build

So this happened ... I told myself its so that I could finally get the LeBlond lathe into place along the wall: But I also just wanted an excuse to see it outside in the sun now that its a roller! Still sitting high in the front, I'm going to wait till I have more of the heavy bits in...

Inner fenders are staying where they are for now. Current solution is (with the outer fender off) to stand on the tire to work on the motor. Its amusing for now, but I have a feeling it'll get old quick. Climbing up and down 35" tires is a good quad workout though. I'm mocking up the rear shock...
