    Cooler SIZE survey

I'm surprised I didn't find a thread like this already ... if I missed one, please delete this. I'm going to pick up a Yeti Cooler - with my REI dividend and 20% off coupon it'll be near free, and I'm sick of my el-cheapo Igloo cooler. This is not a debate over brand - I'm sure Engel and...

    All-Purpose Scout 80 build

This mill has a 4th axis, neat for some stuff but pretty unnecessary for most of what I'd use it for as a hobby. I think the Haas Toolroom mills, now that they come with enclosures, are pretty nice for a 'garage' CNC. I could also see getting a converted Knee mill some day, but for now I'm happy...

    All-Purpose Scout 80 build

My garage is currently stuffed full of the contents of my house, we're replacing the crap floors that were in there when we bought. I figured my wife might be happier if I didn't bring the couches back into the house full of grinding dust, so I came up with another project to work on this...

WANTED or reward to help me find!!!!! CUSTOM CV BOOTS!

Closest I could find is BT-1083: http://www.columbiaerd.com/standard-bellows.php Small end is smaller than you need but you can usually cut off a corrugation or 2.

Are you? :) Are these trucks ever done? The rotabroach cuts really nicely, definitely a step up from hole saws, and leave a cleaner hole for sure. They seem to have less of a tendency to walk and chatter than hole saws when using with a hand drill. I'm looking into getting some larger sizes as...

    All-Purpose Scout 80 build

Shifting gears from all that suspension work, I've been working on cleaning up the frame and underside of the body to paint. Goal is to get that done, drop the body back on the frame for good, and then start final mechanical assembly. I will paint the outside sometime later. In process of...

what size sockets to cary JKU

Best way I've heard is to do all of your maintenance and upgrade work using the toolkit that stays in the truck. This way when you need a new size wrench/socket that you don't already have in the kit it now stays in the truck kit, eventually you'll have a full set of just the sockets you need...

My L-Track, airline track in the tacoma, Tie Down options everywhere

Nice, I like your idea of hiding them in the bed mat.

Yeah you might get 1 rust free one out of the bunch :) I'm calling the rear shock mounts done for now. Everything clears when I cycle it as much as I can with a floor jack in the garage, we'll just have to see how they do in the real world. The pictures don't look much different, but I...

Similar idea, except there would be a link between the axle and the bellcrank, and some other mechanism for locating the axle. The Christie suspension uses the bellcrank as a suspension arm as well, which would only really work on an independent suspension setup. It will also have the same...

Scout 80/800 frame should be more like 9.5-10" off the ground with stock tires. If you're 3" lower than that I suspect the springs have collapsed or something. Your height limitation is going to be up-travel - I have a bit over 5" of bump travel before my steering linkage gets friendly with the...

    International Scout 1964 80/800

I say get one! But I may be biased (see signature below) http://www.binderplanet.com/ will have way more info than this forum. They're old, simple trucks - not much to go wrong, but not very well supported anymore. IH stuff is pretty obsolete, but seems to have been built to last. Don't expect...

Got any pics of your setup? I'm not familiar with Explorers ... I don't think the axle moves significantly enough to make min front/behind much of an issue, at least not compared to running them next to the axle instead of on top. I put mine behind the axle in the theory that as the suspension...

    Topper storage solutions\under topper rack?

I don't have any pictures yet, but when I mounted Yakima tracks to the roof of my camper shell I used the through bolts to mount D-rings on the inside. I have shock cord strung between the D-rings in a criss-cross pattern which lets be 'bungee' stuff to the roof. I mainly did it to be able to...

Now there's a statement! I want one of these magic lifts, can you point me their way?

Thanks for the feedback, it keeps me motivated to keep posting updates. I'll look into the u-bolt flip, but its probably on the 'projects to tackle some weekend after the truck is running' list. Which is growing already:)

Gotta love those projects you spend a ton of time on for what seems like something stupid simple. So after about 4 iterations, some on the computer and some in metal, here's where I ended up. I finally conceded that cutting the body flange that hangs down over the frame was the way to go, it...

Long bed vs short bed tacoma

The turning circle on the double cab long bed tacomas isn't much different than a tundra, so if you want a Tacoma to gain some maneuverability you may want to drive both first. I'd go for the short bed for the TRD off road package (locker) and the better maneuvering.

For reference (and because I like showing it off) here's what 35x12.5's on a Scout II width Dana 44 looks like on a Scout 80 body.
