As someone who has been riding for 50 years I will tel you the same thing I tell everyone considering learning to ride after 35 years old. Don’t do it. Especially a commute like that. If you were going to ride 95% off road, maybe.
Stay off motorcycles and stay off pavement. There is only so...
You will have more adventure just trying to sort the disco than an actual adventure. Imagine how much less stressful it would be if you got a wrangler or taco or an f150. It would be all about the trip, not stressing over all the issues you will have. Is the GF prepared for this?
Anyway, you...
Leaf springs easier? Ha!
The answer was there all along, get the height you want unloaded and add air bags. I can understand your hesitancy because there is a lot of that with wrangler folks. They change their lifts like underwear!
I won’t be rock crawling so likely will avoid a lift entirely if...
+++ for an inreach. Use the plan only when you need and the simple functions are fail safe.
I soloed the TAT on my dual sport and my gf insisted I take one. Best investment ever for safety and piece of mind for the adventurer and the ones at home.
Plus the online tracking function fits right...
I live in South Florida. I can set my cruise at 82 and not be bothered. Many times the traffic is flowing at 90+ on the turn pike between Orlando and west palm. Crazy! On the Harley I set the cruise at 85 normally. I make it to Daytona which is 180 miles north in 2 hours regularly on the bike...
What motor/gears do you have?
I do run around in eco mode most of the time to get my 24-25 average on my commute. But it’s not like it is slow. I just put my down a little more than I would in normal mode if I want to be quick.
I see people posting that fuelly shows 16 mpg for the 3.5. That is...
A new paint job would be about the same as a full wrap!
Looking for something like JeepA have that are relatively cheap throw aways per panel.

Wow! How did you get 18 mpg with the 3.5? I get that towing a small boat at 80+. (Less than 2k boat and trailer, below bed profile.)
I think if I raced from stoplight to stoplight in sport mode I would do better than 18.
My 17k miles of ownership average is 22-23.
So a 350-400 mile range on...
You can get an Eaton e locker for the front for about 875 plus install. I would much prefer that over an lsd in the front.

I have been extremely happy with my zumo 390 on the bike, thinking about a zumo xt for bike and vehicle.
Now I have to look into the overlander!
I do find garmin the most robust and reliable over any phone apps I have used.

Have you driven a gladiator yet? I test drove a Mojave. Very nice for my needs but I wouldn’t want more than 1 other person and a dog.
And the comfort, power and range of the f150 are miles above the JT.
