Poor Experience w/ Renogy Seeking Advice on Alternatives

Boy, I hope my 200W suitcase never gives me any problems. I don't like what I've learned here about Renogy customer service.

Dangerous Twisting of Jacks When raising and Loading Alaskan 10 CO on my Ford Long bed

Those brackets do indeed stay at home, because that camper is on that truck permanently. Removing it would be a long multi-step process likely motivated only by the purchase of a new(er) Alaskan. It was not made to come off easily.

Does Anyone Actually Use Their House Water for Drinking?

Alrighty then-- thanks, all. Drink it, it is. That'll make life a little less complicated and give me a bit more range.

Does Anyone Actually Use Their House Water for Drinking?

I think I remember we did use the camper water for drinking when I was a little kid, but I haven't heard of anyone doing that since. It would be useful if I could use that water for drinking because then I wouldn't have to carry a 5-gal jug in the gas can rack. I figure if I circulated a...

55QT Rotomolded Cooler at Costco for $140

And if you take care of it and make sure it doesn't get stolen, you have it for the rest of your life. No more $ spent on flimsy coolers or spoiled food. Sound economics for the serious cooler user, I'd say.

    4x4 Duramax/Alaskan Camper Flatbed Build

That’s ************— nice work! We did pretty much the same thing to support mine: Although I like you the way you secured your frame to the truck much better. I’m not much for that flatbed camper configuration, though (as much as I like the clean look), because I’d have to forego my boxes...

Dangerous Twisting of Jacks When raising and Loading Alaskan 10 CO on my Ford Long bed

We built these: Those brackets (seen at center) move the jacks out 6” or so: They’re not hard to make if you have the equipment and know how to weld. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Need Heater for old Dometic Freezer

After combing through various suppliers' inventories, I found the closest equivalent at MPI, whose system won't process orders under $100. I told them via chat what I though of that particular business model, and to pursue intercourse with themselves. I am now considering my options since...

Need Heater for old Dometic Freezer

Thank you for that! The old heater has a notch on the end for a pinch screw, and I have to wonder how important that is to the proper functioning of the unit. I can't imagine it serves to secure the heater, since a freezer seems to be a stationary appliance not designed to move a whole lot.

Need Heater for old Dometic Freezer

I have an old Dometic FC-140 freezer whose AC heater has expired. The part: Is NLA. The element is 7 1/2” in length, and the wattage is 160. Can someone help me locate an equivalent heater? The only ones I’ve found are “L” shaped, not straight. This freezer worked REALLY well before this...

I also did a little upgrade on the headlights with a new of LED units: I got these because they didn’t look as weird as a lot of the others I looked at. I’m old.

After I got back, I started addressing the issues encountered on my little trip. First, I tore into the hub that I thought I saw leaking north of Walden. These hubs/brakes are a PITA because, to gain access to the brake internals, you have to remove the hub. The hub & drum are effectively one...

    Squarestream

Awesome build, Andrew! I'm guessing you have some fabrication in your background. I've been contemplating a linear actuator system for my Alaskan, but I have a motivational problem replacing a fully-functioning hydraulic lift system. You and your wife have my respect and admiration camping...

    72 IH + ‘85 Alaskan = Questionable Judgment...

That night was really cold, and I discovered my SAE solar plug had not been making a good connection at the battery— a condition that revealed itself through the shutdown of the heater during the night. Suburban furnaces apparently don’t like battery under-voltage, and, because of the bad...

The following day the rest of the party showed up so we went & checked out the waterfall: Never in my life have I seen so little water in that river. Scary. The bright attire was in response to bear hunting in the area, BTW. That evening, my cousin did some astral photography, and took...

Thank you for the kudos! This was a team effort, though; the old guy in the pix was usually the brains behind the operation, and I most often just ran the tools and burned in the welds. The only big idea I came up with was the spare wheel carrier, IIRC. I really enjoyed your build, BTW, and...

Next morning, the rain had quit, the morning was gorgeous, and I was anxious to see what was up the road. I was also a little hung over, so not disciplined at all about taking pix. Sorry about that. I hadn’t had much to eat the previous night, so I was also nursing a craving for a...

That done, I was out. Normally, it’s a four-hour trip to Walden from where I live, but I was taking the backcountry route via Red Feather Lakes, so it was going to take two days. Turnoff to Red Feather, gas up: No telling how much gas I’d need to make Walden. No gas at Red Feather, but...
