Great suggestion! I like it.
Please see the previous posts - nearly all bedding can be stored in the tent. I do so on a regular basis. And yes...even a full size pillow can be stored. I keep my 40˚ bag, a thick extra blanket, the mattress and rainfly up there with a ton of room to spare. There...
The RTTx: Why 'another' Roof Top Tent?
Let's chat about this. The roof tent market we know of is saturated with products. Tents everywhere. There are hard shell, soft shell, hybrids, mechanized, some that sleep 2, some that sleep 4-5 and so on.
So...why do this?
Not a single tent on the...
The nose is a fascia panel that is designed to be not only an aerodynamic component, but also a channel when opened to redirect the water down and away from the sleeping area.
The lower tray is sealed to prevent water intrusion and the panels are custom spec'd, thermally rated, structural...
Ladies & Gentlemen, I present the last and final prototype RTTx 003 in photos...
Details to note:
- This unit is considered a finish-level prototype.
- Please note - Some aspects of the tent will be different on the production versions.
- Colors and fabrics are subject to change.
RTTx 003: The third prototype is complete. A lot has been learned building these three. 003 far and away is the cleanest, sexiest of the 3. It is also the closest to the intended production version and has lot of changes on it.
Details:
- The framing is 100% powder coated
- The Fabric was...
Sometimes...the smallest details come out to be the coolest. Allow me a moment to nerd out over the new latch & spring rod assembly I just completed for 003. ?
Tis the summer months. And here in the wonderful Atlanta Metro, that means hot, hotter, and then humid hot. Frankly it sucks. 90-95˚ with 85-100% humidity. Working on the tents in those conditions....blows.
The last prototype is presently about 95% complete. Here are the items that have been...
This Question has come up a few times: How much room is there in the tent for storing bedding, etc?
Answer: A solid amount. 3.5" of height available when using an inflatable mattress. Shown in this photo - my 40˚ bag, heavy weight blanket, and the Nemo Cosmos 50 XL insulated inflatable...
RTTx News: Some FAQ's that have come up.
Current Status:
The tents are currently in beta testing till Sept. Following testing the product will be evaluated for revision and final release. At that time, I will be opening up the initial production run of ten to get things off the ground.
Q&A's...
Howdy all - quick update on summer testing. Things are progressing nicely. 002 came back from Moab a wonderful success having survived monsoon level rains, high winds and hail. Not a drop of moisture inside or a failure in the fabric. ?
Very, very satisfied with the results to date.
003 is...
Or this one?
90x54
5.25" closed
54" tall open
117 lbs (less with production models)

Best of all - an actual aerodynamic, low profile hard shell RTT.
Regarding the Redarc DC-DC unit, I just purchased one for my LiFePo4 aux battery. The instructions are comprehensive and mention what size wire to use. In my case 8 AWG is the recommendation. This is the unit I am adding, tied to my 100W Solar panel...
Thank you! Ladder is stowed in a special spot in my own rig. You could potentially stow it under, but the space to do so do is very tight. Low profile is a primary design target for the tent. That said - the idea is also to provide a customizable solution. So...anything is really possible.

Thank you, sir. Price point is getting there. I figure very close to Autohome's range.
Regarding space - that entirely depends on the size of the humans. I, myself am 6'6" and I fit beautifully even with my 6'1" wife. Plenty of space. I could see maybe 2 average (5'6" to 5'10" adults and one...
I thought the same thing until I looked more closely at the photo. He snapped the photo mid-cleaning. The upper area was somewhat cleaned.
Edit: Correction - Mark just noted that was before cleaning. It would appear then to be the "dead zone" (har, har), where the air splits from the windshield...
