I prob should have clarified. I don't plan to touch anything engine related till it's got quite a few miles on it.
As for the wheels, AEV states the rim has a 4100lb load rating, and the tires have a 3525lb load rating. Since the axle rating is 6k then these should all exceed necessary ratings...
Hey all, been lurking for a bit and decided I'd post a build I'm starting as a fun easy intro into the community. This build may be a little outside the normal for this group but I'm a little outside the normal so it fits.
This will be, by far, the most expensive build I've ever done and it's...
I had read that and thought the same, which lead me to seeing the boarder closing. If you head up into the area let me know and I'll tag along if you don't mind the company. Can prob get away for a day or two for a local adventure.

I don't see any so I assume no but did you setup any radio for your trip? I'm looking at taking some solo trips and thinking a HAM would be useful in addition to an inreach or something.
Maybe take a local trip up and around new england. From my understanding the Canadian border is still closed to US citizens but you could cruise up CT through MA/NH/ME coast, head up into the north maine woods, then over to Burlington and back down western MA. Some cool places up in the north...
For sure the tires, wheels, frame, brakes, etc. are identical between the 2500 and 3500. The only difference is the rear springs being leaf vs coil. I think you're right that liability and registration probably make up the full reason for the major difference.
I'd be curious to your breakdown of the two RTT, why you went with roofnest and what you saw as pro/cons between the two.
Good to hear about the windoors. I'm 6'1" but I've got long arms so it sounds like it will be similar for me, accessible but a bit of a stretch.
It's interesting to read about the differences with payload even on the 3500. I can't see the full spec of the tires but it looks like your GVWR is 700lbs lower than your axels support. My guess is it may be the tires as a limiting factor but I find that hard to believe. I know with my 2500 the...
That def makes me lean toward the leer. I liked the look of the ARE rear window and how it didn't have anything on it except the handle to open, but thats a pretty minor nit. I do like the idea of those windoors, curious to your experience of using the bed with the added height from 37s.
I was...
You carry that full size spare with you all the time? How do you have it mounted? I'd love to see the inside of the shell if you wouldn't mind. I can't find too many photos of the interior of the leer but it looks like the one you have doesn't have any additional internal frame?
Love the photos, can't wait to see more. I do have a question for you, what do you do for a spare and any sort of "rescue" items you keep with yourself for this trip?
Yeah, agreed there. Not quite as tall as my lifted 1500 was but shockingly close for a factory truck. Can't wait to get this thing out on the road. Gonna take a little trip this weekend up to the white mountains I think. I'm thinking I'll do something pretty similar to what you have as a setup...
Appreciate everyones feedback here. I dig some more digging and also noticed that the 2500 has a GAWR of ~6k per axle, however the GVWR is 10k exactly. From what I've started digging it seems that certain states have stricter requirements and taxes on vehicles over the 10k GVWR so I'm wondering...
I did that for a bit on my old GMC. While it worked it wasn't something I really enjoyed doing for "daily" use of the bed.
I hear that Carli is amazing for ride quality. My current "issue" is that I have a 2500, and I paid a bit too much attention to the towing numbers. I had looked at GMC and...
Hey all,
TL;DR - What's it like to daily a Ram HD with 37" or larger tires?
First post but have been lurking on the site for years and the forum for a while. I recently purchased a 2019 Ram 2500 diesel. I'm stoked to have the thing, wanted a fullsize diesel truck forever and was able to save...
