    New AEV Wheels

How are they not standing behind it? From what I've read, every person that has ever had a crack has had the wheel replaced free, no questions asked, with free shipping, etc. etc. -Dan

    New AEV Wheels

Dave H from AEV has addressed the "made in China" part before. He strives to have everything AEV made in the USA, and if I remember correctly, the wheels are currently the only thing that are not. He tried as hard as he could to have them made in the USA, and the plain fact is that it's not...

military spec J8 available to mining companies in the US

Because it doesn't pass crash safety and emissions laws set by the government of your country. (or, at least, it's never been proven that it does i.e. they didn't spend millions getting it certified.) -Dan

military spec J8 available to mining companies in the US

They have been all along. So are 70's series Land Cruisers and other such beasts. I see them up here in the Yukon from time to time, being moved into mines. -Dan

The latest Wrangler rumour mill article... Body on frame.

...slightly related, it looks like the 2015 aluminum F-150 is around 700lbs lighter than a similar steel 2014. That's significant. It only costs something like $400-$1000 more. Fingers crossed the same idea will work on the Wrangler. -Dan

Overland style 2 Dr Jeeps... Pics?

My bone-stock 2-door TJ was perfect for my 2 year, 40k mile Alaska->Argentina adventure. I never needed more than 600kms of range, which I could do on the stock tank, and I slept in a ground tent. -Dan

Official: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel

My understanding is that an Imperial gallon, which is what America uses, is 3.8 liters. A Metric gallon, used in the UK, is 4.5 liters. (even though Australia is entirely metric, we never use gallons. When we do, it's older people still referring to the gallon from pre-metric days, which is...

Diesel Conversions for TJ and/or JK.

Any estimate on when Banks will start selling them, and at what price? My understanding is you still can't get one, and it's going to be BIG money (~$20k) -Dan

    2017 Wrangler to be Unibody...

At Overland Expo in May this year (2014) there was a talk by two Jeep Engineers who are working on the new Wrangler. I feel bad, but I forget their names. One was higher up and hinted he reports directly to The CEO, Sergio, and the other seemed to report to the first guy and was more "hands on"...

    2017 Wrangler to be Unibody...

That's exactly what I'm hoping for. I imagine they're going to ditch the fold-down windscreen as well, and maybe change/slant the grill/front profile to help aero a bit too. I know 25 MPG US is possible with the 2.8 VM in a 2 door JK (Dave H. from AEV told me the one he built does that). So...

    Your basic newbie Rubicon question

Buy it and use it as you want to. When you find things it can't do that you want it to, make modifications appropriate for that. I'll bet you can go months and months (years) learning the stock capabilities without spending a cent on mods. -Dan

    AEV Brute: The Ultimate Overlander?

Thanks Scott for the great article, photos and explanations throughout this thread. When I first read the article it was obvious you were expecting some disagreement, and it's cool to see you here talking around the points with everyone. It's cool to be able to talk directly to someone that has...

    AEV Brute: The Ultimate Overlander?

The owner of AEV, Dave H, said that Jeep is exactly the same length as the Brute Double cab. Their panel supplier (forget the name) built this just to prove they could. Funny that everyone thinks it's way bigger than a brute double cab, when it's actually the same thing. -Dan
