Do you have more info on that? I've seen a lot of factory block heaters, and they're all essentially kettle elements that screw into a welsh plug - thus only heating the coolant. (Unless the oil gets a little warm as a side effect, but at -40, nothing gets warm as a side effect.) -Dan

Public parking spaces usually don't (someone has to pay for the power). Most people pay for a spot that has power. Trust me, when it gets cold, you need to heat more than just your coolant. Even synthetic oil gets sludge like around -45 -> -55C, and your battery will freeze solid killing it. -Dan

Because that costs money, which is extremely tight in Bolivia. You really need to spend extended time in countries where money is that tight to get an appreciation for it. Even $10 is a lot when the rag fix is free. -Dan

My understanding is you still wind up with all the electronics and swtiches for power windows and door locks, even if the half doors don't actually have them. -Dan
