Yep, though the specific Merc Diesel I'm looking (OM606T) at is around 5x more expensive in North America than in Europe. Also, it will help to have access to a multitude of parts like different IPs, oil pans, etc. etc. Thanks, -Dan

The 8 speed auto requires an entirely new wiring system called Powernet. Most people think it's not going to happen on the JK, as it's too much of a re-work this late in the model. Those millions are better spent on the JK replacement. -Dan

I like your plan, I would buy the same thing if the price was reasonable. I know you looked into blanking out the back doors on a JKU, then joining the 2 and 4 door hard tops to get what you want.... Did you give up on that idea? I personally am keeping my eyes on the price of 2007 JKU...
