Thanks, that's awesome.
I'd love to see how the Rubi handles that loose shale.
I know exactly the board you are talking about. We dropped down the biking trail about 200m past there.
I heard that another ~1 km further is an amazing bowl with a split-level lake that is well worth checking out.

Nice !
Where you up there Saturday or Sunday? I rode my bike up that same rode Sunday, then went down the Mountain Hero trail.
It's hard to see on your map if you made it that far around on the Nares side... did you go past that old rock building?.. I dropped down just a hundred meters past...
This has been discussed on AEV's forums, and the owner of AEV, Dave, chimes in.

I believe that expedition has stalled due to lack of funding.
I'm still hoping to catch them when (if?) they come through Whitehorse.
The nice thing about living on the Alaska Highway is you can guarantee you'll see every single Overlander headed to AK.

I'm also worried about getting strong reflections of the panels while driving.... I really don't know though.
If you go ahead with this, I'd love to see how it works out.
-Dan
Working hard ? (haha)
I don't think the diesel for 2016 is fully "official" yet, fingers still crossed.
I think they'll have to do something engine-wise to meet the tighter CAFE standards.. smaller turbo Pentaster is a possibility.

The Detroit news seems to think so

Sounds beyond spectacular.
If you can find a way to share those gps tracks, I'm sure the Overlanding community at large would be very appreciative.
I'll happily throw them on http://wikioverland.org

Actually, the US is building new reactors for the first time in 30 years.

How very interesting.
Does anyone have specs on that engine? (I can't find anything)
I have to assume it's lighter than the 3.0 V6 in the GC and RAM 1500.
Possibly the diesel for the Wrangler...?
-Dan
EDIT: Also, the fact it comes with a 6-speed standard trans is a good thing.. maybe it...
Right on. I was thinking it would be a pain if the guages only update every few seconds and "jump around" if you know what I mean.
You could try to get someone with the same engine/ECU to test it out for you...
-Dan
How often do the guages update when connected over OBDII ?
When built my own interface in ~2003, it seemed most cars would spend their CPU time actually running the engine, and they'd only update OBD stuff every 5-30ish seconds.
Maybe it's different now?

When a sales manager can't even spell correctly, I have to seriously doubt their "insider information".
I want a diesel Wrangler as much as the next guy, though I've not heard anything "actually official"
-Dan
Looks great!
Those rusty calipers looks nasty.. I got re manufactured ones for $25 each after the core deposit rebate - for the price you might consider it.

Obviously it's all personal preference. I really depends on how luxurious you want to "live" while on the road.
To give some perspective on Dangerbus' post, I'll comment on the items as they applied to my 65,000km, 22 month drive from Alaska to Argentina.
I very much subscribed to the...
