New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

The Bison was revealed yesterday. It’s an absolute joke. Let me explain: - they stick 35s on the ZR2 which is awesome but they didn’t change the gearing, so you can just buy a ZR2 and throw 35s for cheaper - they throw a 0.5in spacer lift which you can do for $200 on your ZR2 - they throw...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

Fully loaded is a requirement. My overland vehicle is my daily drive (work from home) and I want the comfort and tech features. As for dual lockers etc at the end of the day my requirement is to get me where I want easily. Yesterday I came back from a backpacking trip. 2 hours of dirt road to...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

I agree it’s best to test drive. Almost impossible though if I want it next year. There is already a huge line for the raptor and Tacoma. As far as I am concerned my best ever memories were on incredible remote camp sites that needed serious off-roading to get there. Fully use the capability of...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

Latest 50min TFL interview of the chief engineer they talk about payload on the trailhunter: “of course with all the weight we have added you won’t see payload go up”….

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

It does not really matter. It all depends on the GVWR for each trim so we can’t really know for now. One would think that since they only advertised ONE payload, it must definitely be the highest available regardless of trim level. The base 4x2 SR non i-force will probably be a lesser payload...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

The ZR2 is available to order today. The Ranger Raptor, if you want it, order opens in a few days. Yeah, I do wish I had all the specs and test drove all three but if you don’t compare today and eventually buy a raptor in 3 months, that’s when you will have to wait 1 year. I ordered my bronco...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

That’s not the case. The tundra GVWR fully varies by trim. For example an SR 4x2 is 7035 GVWR and the capstone 4x4 is 7670. That’s a 600lbs difference. Payload on capstone is still affected, but it would be abysmal if had the same GVWR. So I truly hope Toyota gave a high GVWR to the Trailhunter...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

Thanks for the details. Of course I would never buy a pickup without a cap or camper. I will put a lone peak on it which is dust and water proof, and includes a positive pressure vent that prevents dust ingress and ventilates the interior, as well as I will seal the gate. If you don’t need the...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

Not only it’s not a “solid bump over what the Ranger offers” but it’s less. The new ranger max Payload is 1805 lbs for the base model. the 1700 you refer to is for a base Taco, that’s the max payload for bare bone. So I insist, the TRD Pro / Trailhunter payload is a big question mark. At this...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

Now that the 3 all new mid-size pickups have been announced, let’s talk. Tacoma: - Great look (subjective) - Reliability is not a big plus for Toyota anymore for me (tons of new tech, new hybrid engine, and the new Tundra got issues) - 2 distinctive trims: high speed desert running TRD Pro with...

    Lone Peak Overland

Hello all, I was in the market for a camper and after trying out the GFC and Super Pacific, I had the opportunity to try the Lone Peak and decided it was the best option for me. After that I contacted Kyle to to become a brand ambassador. As such I am able to share promo codes for the launch...

    New amazing Hymer Camper!

Indeed. Another way to look at it is that you can get a really nice van for $50-60K in Europe, much better than one at double the price in the US. I haver never understood why. Do you have more insights?

    Cheapest off-road trailer for RTT?

What's the cheapest retail trailer off-road capable that's basically a sealed box with a rack to accommodate a RTT? Cheapest I found was Four Leaf Clover but people on this forum have been having lots of issues with the owner so looking for an alternative.

    Best Bronco for overlanding

That Sasquatch junior exists, it’s called the Badland trim. Comes with front/rear lock, 33s, and the upgraded Bilstein suspensions. The issue is it’s $3.5K more than a Big Bend with Sasquatch with my options, and it comes with front/rear steel bumpers and there is a GVWR issue on the Bronco. My...

    Best Bronco for overlanding

Yes I plan to daily drive it and drive to far away locations. I want at least 33s AT tires because if I keep the 32s I don’t see much reason to get the Bronco with a ground clearance inferior to a Subaru. So do you think there is a significant difference for street driving between 33 and 35 and...

    Best Bronco for overlanding

Looking for the overlanding community point of view on this. I have a reservation for a Bronco (from day one) and I’ll have to convert the order soon. I am hesitating between going for the Big Bend (think of it as the Wrangler Sport S) and replace the 32 tires with 33s with the rear locker...
