    HazVan - 2002 E-350 SuperDuty 7.3l PSD

Your rigs weight distribution is likely different than mine. In mine, I’d be most concerned about rear traction. It’s got 6000 lbs over the rear axle. Experience has shown that both rear wheels will stay on the ground and front wheels will be airborne quickly. Thus making open diffs and LSD less...

Bob the Campulance. E350 Crestline with Roof Raise. V3 in Progress.

I regularly park in spots 2’ longer than the rig. Having two backup cameras helps a lot. One is for rear view.., and it flips to the other when I throw it into reverse which allows me to see the back edge of the bumper. It makes parallel parking a breeze ;)

Bob the Campulance. E350 Crestline with Roof Raise. V3 in Progress.

For you next rig you can get a long box ;) And for your third you’ll go back to short when you realize the long won’t fit in any parking space. I can see the benefits of the longer box, but for my use I’d be cursing it 363 days of the year. Happy New Year :D

    97 E350 Crestline Ambo Build/Mod

Couple things. The Samlex inverter I started with died. I didn’t want to spend $650 to replace it... so went with a Renogy 2000 watt for $350 delivered. It’ll also not shut down any time the alternator momentarily breaks 15v. Sustained output above 15 could be a problem, however the inverter...

    Which Inverter Brand and model?

Thanks for all the input. My new inverter arrived today. Despite the mixed reviews here, I went with the Renogy 2000 watt pure sine inverter. For $350 cdn (310 usd ish) I had it delivered to my door. Given I only really use it for 1/2 an hour or so a month, I can’t justify spending $200 or so...

How is your van altered for offroading?

With dual tires, the second tire is rated to handle the full load. So at least shorter term, it’s like having three spares. Although I’d not want to run long term on one of two duals, it’s safe to do so... especially if the goal is getting to a tire shop.

Camper Van / Ambulance Pop Top On a Budget

Very cool option at a much more affordable price. Mine is just like David’s first Ambo. I’ll keep this in mind if my priority shifts more to camping and away from not getting any taller.

    Ambo Introduction

I’d recommend extending the rear stems with flexible lines that are clamped to the rims. Mine had none whatsoever when I bought it... and were nearly impossible to fill. I drove it home, almost 200 miles, without being able to properly inflate the outer dually. Only later did I become aware that...

    Cummins Canoe (A Stepvan Story)

Crappy. I almond wonder if the seller knew this was coming. I’ve never had a connecting Rod break or crankshaft either, I hope you’re able to fix it for a reasonably budget,

How is your van altered for offroading?

Overall, it’s no contest in these parts. The Ambulance is too big for anything more serious than a logging road in these parts. A suitably equipped Fj40 (even with open diffs), 33” tires, mild lift, rear air bags, onboard air, 4 bolt 350, 4 wheel discs, dual tanks, sliders, etc will run circles...

Using Goal Zero Yeti 1400/3000 to power builds

All batteries have reduced output below freezing. In fact performance drops as the temperature goes down. Not changing below 0 is the bigger concern.

Post Van Parts For Sale Here please

Liteace is not quite the same as Landcruiser... a fool if he takes a Land Rover in trade. Perhaps I’m biased, but my newer Toyota has only had front brakes x1 time, rear struts, and oil changes in 12 years and 110k miles. Rovers would likely need more work in 12 weeks of ownership.

    Phillips HU-LED - 1997 Ford E350

After some testing I found out the problem. If your van is equipped with daytime running lights, the module gets unhappy if there’s not enough load on the headlight circuit. It decides your low beams are burnt out and switches to DRL. Without the Can-bus adapter the DRL flicker and the high...

How is your van altered for offroading?

Ambulance, 4.10 w/ lsd, 6000 lbs over rear axle, & a class V hitch to tow a capable 4x4 ;) Philips H4 XULED bulbs in Hella E code housings & CAN bus adapter to make them work with the DRL module.

Rambo - GMC Ambo Conversion (Roof Raise)

I’ve not forgotten. I was referring to the white plastic on the wall. The OEM stuff is cracked. I’ve got 3 sheets of white HDPE to repair it with. It’s normally used on the boards at hockey rinks. It shouldn’t crack... even if it gets cold... not that it happens here.

    Phillips HU-LED - 1997 Ford E350

Installed in Hella E- rectangular headlights. Initial Trials on low beams at dawn... H4 Halogen - Left side H4 XU LED - Right side Both Headlights Halogen & LED So obviously they are way brighter than Hella Halogen H4 bulbs. Now to the problem :( High/Low beams & extra driving lights all...
