What will an overweight Taco and a slip off a rock get you?

the 8.4 has been around since ~01. the 8.75 is not really any different.

    Towing a 16ft Airstream with a 4runner? Other alternatives?

sounds like you haven't read the owners manual for the 4Runner... dollars to doughnuts it probably states WD hitch over 3-3500 lbs. And you've deviated from your fact-based approach claimed earlier...

    Towing a 16ft Airstream with a 4runner? Other alternatives?

pet peeve... when narrow vehicles tow wide campers... and the owners don't consider visibility. Not saying a 4runner won't work... I just personally would never do it.

Will my Tacoma survive 1000 miles with a FWC on stock suspension?

that's not because of the camper, specifically. that's axle wrap + loss of traction + immediate traction finding the weak point. It's not uncommon in toyota's.

    Brake Pads for Overweight Tacoma

2nd gen makes a huge difference. Look into the 4th gen 4runner sport that came with the 18” wheels. They have much larger rotors. @AddictedOffroad did a write up of these a few years ago. It may be you’re only real option, unless you are willing to pony up for a 1st gen Tundra big-brake option...

    Brake Pads for Overweight Tacoma

two things... 1 - why so heavy? 2 - there's no real upgrade for stock rotors. I love frozenrotor/hawk pad combo... but that won't make up for size.

    2004 Tacoma SAS

this is a great concept. I'm curious why more haven't done it this way.. QQ - in some of the pictures, it looks like the coil spring is hitting the bucket. Is that just an optical illusion?

    OME Heavy and Sway Bar?

neither of my Tacoma's have sway bars.... They don't "lean" during cornering as much as they "lift." And there are times it can be disconcerting, especially during braking on wet surfaces. But, I drove SAS'd rigs w/o sway bars for most of my life, so I think I've gotten used to it (mostly.) One...

Can-Back if they make them. Owned 3 on 4runners - fantastic. Had a softopper on a 1st gen tacoma. hated it. sold it.

Take The Truck's First Gen Tacoma Build

Eventually I'll be welding in a crossmember between the bed and frame for the rear shocks to be mounted on properly, but for now I managed to utilize the stock shock mount locations using some slightly longer 60mm 12x1.25 grade 8 bolts - not ideal and sacrifices a good bit of up travel but it's...

Remove passenger seat and airbag issues

Why remove the front pass seat? At least share that for the insanely curious! Airbag light means there’s no one in the passenger seat. there’s a Weight sensor that supposedly ensures the airbaggoes off if there’s a person in the seat, IIRC.

Is It Worth @ $30k to Make Your Newer Taco Look Old ? ?

the older I get, the more I hate snorkels. And the more I’d consider it a value for it to not be included. ?

Is a Land Cruiser really better off-road than a Tacoma? My experience says the opposite..

Not really such a thing as axle spacers… per se. There are some IFS lifts (mostly Chevy and ford, IIRC) that put a small spacer between the inner cv and axle flange, but that’s really the only axle spacer I know of. The spacers that you see on SAS rigs are just wheel spacers. Buy a high...
