Just a heads up, I will be on the road with very limited (if any) access to internet or cell phone coverage next week June 6-10. I will do my best to answer questions or handle orders as my internet access allows during that time but please be patient with me while I'm away. If you need...
Previous price was ~$270 so I'd expect something close to that. I'll double check current pricing. It's been a while since we've offered these so it might have a small change but if so it shouldn't be much.
Gotcha. I suppose that could be true. Trade-offs. Remember however that this is a first prototype. There will be revisions before it's official release.
Here's the list I have:
rwilford21
jimi1971
Torq
VictorSmalls
LexusAllTerrain
ColoradoCal
Yarjammer
Parapyropig
rangerdogg
.
If you're on this list and not serious about getting one, let me know so someone else can be added. We're only bringing in a limited quantity.
Keep in mind that much of the discussion is just speculation since the kits had not been released yet. Now that it's out there should start being more accurate "real world" feedback.
Sounds good. John was there so it definitely could have been him you talked with. That's the first I've heard pricing estimates, but based on other conversations with them and that this is very much still in development I could see that changing some.

Back to the Alucab...I agree with you...
Check this out. Nice article from Sean McCoy at Gear Junkie about his experience with a Tepui Kukenam Ruggedized that he lived out of for 2 months as he travelled from Colorado to Alaska.

Who was it that told you this price?
It's also quite heavy at 180lbs before loading anything. Not criticizing it, just different tents with different goals. Apples to oranges really.
Here's where you want to look for info on the suspension.

You're correct. My slider legs are right at the bottom edge of the frame as well. I welded scab plates to the frame first, then the slider legs to the scab plates. I also notched the pinch weld. It was very quick with a flap disc. You'll need to do that to the exhaust heat shield below the...
Yes, Rustoleum Satin Black. Plasti-dip will look like trash on a large area like this if you're using the rattle cans. The only way to get plasti-dip to look ok on a large area is to use a real spray gun.
This was literally "hot off the press" for the expo and with a early Fall release I'm sure it will get some refinements before it's finalized. This will be 100% built in the USA.
I hope to get more details on this new tent this week once the team gets back into the office and the dust settles from the Expo. I have a call with them tomorrow and I'll see what new info I'm able to get and share. With a early Fall release for this tent, I think it's possible that it will...
The ability to incorporate solar is a great observation and idea. Thanks for sharing that.
In terms of innovation and resisting the trend to just copy what's out there, that has been a focus of Tepui from the beginning. The Ruggedized tents are one example of innovation and improving design...
Yeah I don't think this new tent is meant to compete head-to-head with the some of the other hard shells out there. Apples to oranges to a degree. But as I said before, could be more stuff down the road. ;)
