Finally got to see the traffic receiver working today. Pretty neat to hardwire this in. It's hidden under the dash.
Also paired a bluetooth mouse. Android works well for this. I could scroll zoon in and out of the maps etc.
I've loaded the Amazon app store and installed a few things.
Most notably, Wikipedia and The Weather Channel. Wikipedia is neat in that you can quickly save an article for offline viewing. I found some covering Oregon ghost towns. GPS coordinates are found in nearly every article.
I also...
While I agree, I imagine you will rarely have to plug this unit in. I only plugged it in to update the unit itself with Garmin Express. I found it to be much more reliable and MUCH faster as the WiFi is pretty slow. It’s not meant to be powered consistently with its USB input. Tracks and routes...
I was able to add a custom Map overlay via Base Camp. It was a land ownership overlay that I downloaded from GPSfileDepot. It didn't render well at night, but it did work. I'll keep updating this thread as I work with the unit more.
Very nice surprise. All the hardware is now RAM Mount aluminum hardware. I know some of the early reviews had the regular Garmin suction mount. I’ll be updating as I play with this more.
I’ve seen so much negative press, so hopefully I can document as much as possible and answer the questions...
Retired my Montana after 8 years for faithful service. The Overlander was $499 at Best Buy and I sold my Montana for $200. So definitely looking forward to working with the Overlander. It's being delivered today. I ordered the HD Traffic cable and hardwired it into the Colorado.
They are cheap to get into yes. But they are generally much more expensive to modify. You have to go higher in a given lift to clear a larger tire. You mention the Toyota Sequoia. That, itself, is the least popular within the Toyota crowd with poor aftermarket support.
I'll give you this. the...
I disagree that Ram should have used the 5.0. Nissan had nothing close to a 3/4 Ton truck Ram. Ram already has the 6.7. Why produce a half ton truck with the power of a 3/4 ton truck that could potentially cannibalize the 6.7 sales? The engines are just too close and the 1/2 ton chassis just...
I picked up the Yeti 400. I'm working on putting together a rear truck electrical system with a hard wired electric plug. The plug has the 12v yeti output on one end and ring termianls on the other end. Its going to a fuse block in the back of the truck and will power lights and devices. Ill...
As long as these trucks get out and get driven, they are not going to deal with very many issues. The emissions systems have to be hot to work well. The EGR doesn't clog when the motor is under load and work. Tooling around too and from work like so many do does a disservice to modern diesels...

These are what you want. Rear facing LED with SAE approved optics to control light, glass lens, and 23 year warranty.
I have HD Radio in my Ram. When the single becomes too weak, it defaults to analog radio. It plays while it buffers then switches to the clear signal. The difference is astounding. It easily rivals CDs in clarity. It'd certainly worth it to have if your in a urban area often. Meta data depends...
