Does anyone see anything wrong with installing the smallest of Blue Sea fuse panel with negative bus (6 circuit) to supply a Victron Orion TR-Smart 12v 18 amp DC-DC charger?
Blue Sea rates the entire panel as good for 100 amps (30a max on single circuit). I'm running 8 gauge pure copper...
I was going to ask about a through panel union to allow me to have a quick(ish) disconnect from the fuel tank, since my box just houses the heater, fuel pump, filter.. and I've been crudely extending a line to a fuel tank.
this video has a) convinced me to re-implement the white tube the kits...
I use a combination of LED solar garden spotlights that you stick in the ground blasting up in to the trees and the common wall-mount LED security lights with an S-hook through the hole where you normally drive a screw - to hang on branches. Also use LED strip lights (waterproof, come on a 25ft...
I have a Whynter 62dz. First one failed after first season, I had removed it from the car and a month later plugged it in to the wall. Ran and made inspiring noises but never cooled. Tried on 12vDC and it just sucked 3.5 amps infinitely, never achieving cooling. Not sure why. I got another...
I'm guessing you'll be powering more than just the laptop, right? Cause that's a lot of noise for 45w charge rate or whatever your laptop maxes out at. Surge protectors are cheap enough and you can get a single outlet one if you don't want much additional bulk. Some extension cords have...
Anyone seen sales worth mentioning?
I ordered 3 x Renogy 100w black frame panels because it appears they're nearly the same dimensions as their Eclipse line (41.5 x 20.7), nearly 7 inches shorter than my current Renogy 100w's from a few years ago. $95 each and already received em from...
Good test occurring right now. Last night it was below freezing by ~5:30pm and the average of my two temperature sensors was 51*F at 7:30pm. I expected that heating would begin by like 8pm but it didn't drop low enough to kick on until 10:45pm, with ~188ah remaining at that time. Woke up this...
I’ve been floored by the bluetooth range of my stuff recently. Sitting at the bar in the middle of a restaurant, car about 50 feet away between other cars. Stuff in truck bed. Can connect to bmv and smartsolar sitting here, just takes a few seconds sitting on 20%. I think one would have a...
An update, FWIW. I was previously running the floor of my battery at a constant temperature (tests at 70*, or 80*, 50*, whatever) and it wasn't really translating to temperatures measured at the BMS or the BMS' probe. This was done via PID control so the floor plate silicone heater was always...
Unfortunately I couldn't do any of the thick rigid insulation given the size of the box so I kept the 1/4" stuff (alum skin -> polyethylene backing -> closed-cell polyethylene foam -> polyethylene backing -> alum skin) which lines the entire can and is taped in all seams... better than reflectix...
This is confusing. I put the box out Saturday night at 7:30pm, 33*F outside at the time and the box was reading a solid (even throughout) 75*F. The lid was uninsulated for this test, everything else insulated as it appeared in pics on pg2 of this thread.
The temp dropped pretty fast on the...
Damn dude if I had an off the shelf $1600 battery I'd probably look at something a little less... shittierchinese. Gotta be some purpose built battery wrap @ 12v that you can then control independently via DIY or another $20.
That's pretty legit. A perfectly sized box up to the shoulders of the cells made of aluminum, with an additional 0.75" interior space. Then slide a 0.25" aluminum plate between each cell. It'd be a pain in the pecker to make though as you'd want everything absolutely flush and perfect so...
Yeah, I was worried about that too. I even cut the silicone mat to not be full width, to better allow heat to rise up directly off the aluminum on the sides. Then I promptly ruined that idea by packing the sides. So I'll find comfort in luthj's comment assuming he's correct
Yeah, so here's...
Some dranks lead to tearing my entire shebang apart to install a false floor tonight. This is a 120w 120mmx120mm 12v (1212121212121212) heating pad for 3d printers. Did a lot of testing, have 4 different silicone heaters now but picked this one. While its dimensions don't match the footprint...
yeah, you have to ask the bms for information (unlike Victron which just shouts in to the void 24-7). I haven’t dabbled with writing params and probably won’t. Do that on the bluetooth app then build additional layers of control on top of it. Doubt it’s hard to do
er edit... yes...
Gotcha. If that route interests you I’m happy to send you my code. Just need one of the BMS units advertised as UART, a breadboard, and three male-to-female breadboard jumper wires for gnd/rx/tx. Copypasta a snippet and you’re good. Maybe 5 minutes of work from unboxing arduino to toggling a...
Chinese bms + arduino/esp8266/esp32/etc? Think my 60a Chinese bms has external relay output but I don’t know how to operate it as I haven’t used their official chinglish app.
but Pretty sure lithiumpcb dot com site will customize your bms if needed.
maybe I’m missing something but couldn’t a...
