Victron Blue Smart Charger (Not solar)

Lol sorry, I google image'd that truck. I don't have those contraptions, and I have a camper shell on top. I do have the stair-in-tailgate thing and it's nice. I'm pretty tall but often find myself like 1/10th of an inch too short to scoot my ass on to the tailgate because of parking on...

Victron Blue Smart Charger (Not solar)

I looked at pictures from distributors and it seems like the IP65 is weird plug->weird plug accessories, and the accessories are one pair of clamps and one pair of ring terminals. The IP67 is just ring terminals. So your options are straight out to ring terminals or weird plug. Sounds like...

K so new router arrived. Hacked it open, installed antennas, found serial ports, went down that rabbit hole. So the particle photon is listening to MPPT and BMS, and listening+talking to the router. Can do band locking which wasn't even in the routers UI.. sending AT commands from particle...

Lithium auxiliary battery and cold weather charging

That's my plan, and why I didn't attach anything to the lid of my ammo can build. Just going to remove that in the warmer months.

You are correct. MPPT was still putting out 4 watts in float but BMS reported nothing in or out. Maybe it was going directly to discharge (4w from router + other gizmos). Once I heated box up it cleared the low temp alarm and the MPPT started putting out more. This is great.

Thanks for the information, graphs and such. @Rando I'm a little nervous to simulate a BMS disconnect situation but I unplugged the BMV this morning so nothing to lose there. Cutting off charge input @ BMS level would simulate both a over-voltage event and a too-cold-to-charge event (which...

Thanks for the clarification, I wanted to ask that on endlesssphere's topic surrounding the chinese BMS units but I'm not registered there and the conversation seems to has lost steam. I was tempted to test this early on but didn't want the BMV to reset. A lot of this has been centered around...

Hah! No, I don't think it's a paid gig or that input is expected. I even went as far as to mention at the bottom of one of my posts a few hours ago why I blab so much - but I understand this isn't a paid gig and you probably didn't catch that. I'll bold text next time in hopes that I don't get...

Think you're right, worked that in to the amazon review I just left for the heater. If the brick starts at 12.22v and sags, and the battery is at 13.6v and doesn't sag at all (was charging during this) then I kinda get it. Makes the 150w heater that hit 190whatever watts seconds in to...

Wish you had said that earlier, had been wondering for the last few pages. If not constantly maintaining the temperature, how do you prevent superficial readings on the BMV that allow charging when heat has been introduced and risen to the top? Sensor will be at the top + terminal unless you...

re: post below - the arduino+nano+huawei b310s-518 router consume 3-4w on the BMS. Never more than 4, never less than 3. The BMV will fluctuate between 3-4w and 0w and has been zero current calibrated. It's possible that neither the BMV nor the BMS are sensitive enough and that the BMS is...

Oh yea, some additional testing last night... I was charging through the MPPT @ 15 amps (210w) with a 24v power supply - how I've been charging this thing during testing lately. I was down almost 60ah when I started charging so the process took about 4 hours. Started at 70*F BMS (atop the...

Are they, though? 12 watt, 12 volt 2x4" silicone heater is $70.. and I thought Wolverine battery heaters were expensive... Imagine the made-to-order units are even less bang for your buck. The 150w incubator heater arrived a few mins ago and was promptly connected to one of my portable LFP...

Brother! My first jaunt in to hardware was playing around with a WRT54G router for a reef tank. Many years later back in to it with an arduino and nano tank after flooding the floor of my old office with a faulty ATO system, ~2012. Also did the dosing pump for pH but never for nutrients since...

Think it'd still have to go beneath the cells. Can't fit anything on the sides of them unless stuck directly to the wall of the can which would waste most of it. If I add any insulation to the sides then I won't be able to clear the sides of the cells-zero diffusion. The incubator fan still...

Yeah I forgot to put the silicone in front of heat pads in my post above and I couldn't find a thing from any seller that would arrive before practically 2020. Like a 5x5 is perfect but not when it's 175w. A 4x7 50w is perfect but not when it's 120v. A 75w 12v is perfect but not when it's...

How'd you plan to do that? I haven't read much in to the venus RPi stuff despite having a few laying around. I was under the impression that you couldn't do that stuff from the color control unit. I just stumbled upon a thread discussing controlling the MPPT here but link won't load at the...

Yea, shoulda known cheaper heating strips was a bad idea. Wired them in parallel and plugged in to a 12.22v brick, one curled up and died almost immediately. The other three I tested for a long time stuck to 1/4" aluminum plate. They got extremely hot, as did the aluminum, so I figured that'd...

I'd do that. I've supplied many hundred amp hours in to my new build through the charge controller and the box hasn't been connected to panels yet. Just using a 24v 600w power supply and the small 75/15. Relay idea is slick, I might try to do that so I don't have to crawl in to the bed of the...
