Diesel in a Jeep again...not the wrangler

Not the dealer's lot, but there are photos of new GC's getting around with CRD badges on the back. -Dan

Diesel in a Jeep again...not the wrangler

Yep, sorry I was not clearer. I was talking about the 2014 Euro standards. So they have some time to figure it out. You are right that VM/Motori can clearly design *something* to meet the new standards (ie the 3.0 or the 2.0 you mention). I am skeptical they will bother modifying the existing...

Diesel in a Jeep again...not the wrangler

This is great!!! Things we know: 1. The 3.0 VM/Motori has passed US regulations (EPA, Smog, whatever) AND Euro regulations (they are almost identical now) 2. The GC and the Wrangler share the same 5 speed auto, meaning bell housing too. 3. The 2.8 Diesel used in Europe right now *will not* pass...

    Jeep Wrangler Habitat Official Release

Thanks DK. That's exactly what I'm thinking about. I'd have a counter down one side, a bench seat down the other, and a way to make the entire area a bed. I also much prefer to be outside for cooking, living, etc. During my Pan-Am drive in my tiny Jeep TJ, I learnt in the case of exceptionally...

    Jeep Wrangler Habitat Official Release

John, Thanks for the great reply. That's exactly what I wanted to know. Modifying the rear roll bar would be a big task. After I see the whole setup, and assess the size of the job I might consider removing the entire rear of the roll bar. There will be no rear seats, and never people in the...

    Jeep Wrangler Habitat Official Release

Cool, thanks. I understand this is not at all what most people want, but I don't consider myself very normal. Maybe moving the back roll bar so it's all the way back hard against the back window of the hard top will be an option for me... That would make the "hatch" basically the entire back...

    Jeep Wrangler Habitat Official Release

Challenging for space, yes. Impossible in my view, no. Just to be clear, if I buy a J180, and either rip out the rear roll bar or seriously modify it, is there any reason I can't have a "cut-out" that's essentially the entire regular roof? So I can stand up in most of the Jeep, is my thought...

Unofficial J30 Jeep JKU Pop Up Thread

Thanks for the info DK. I didn't realize the J180 has a hatch like the J30. Would it be possible to make a J180 where the hatch is the entire size of the "regular" jeep roof? (or at least from the back of the front seats back?). My idea would be when folded out, the entire back of the Jeep is...

Unofficial J30 Jeep JKU Pop Up Thread

Hi There, Are there any internal photos of the j180 when folded down and "up"? I'd like to see the headroom increase when it's "down", and also what's the final height when it's "up" (I'm wondering if I'll be able to stand up in the back of the Jeep - I'm 6"2') Thanks, -Dan

400 orders placed for Wrangler pickup conversion kits

The 3.0 turbo diesel from VM/Motori has passed EPA testing and is confirmed for the 2013 GC. If Jeep wants to put it in the Wrangler, nothing is stopping them. Many reviews of the 2.8 diesel wrangler show it gets almost double the mileage of the old 3.8 gas engine. The 3.0 should be even...

400 orders placed for Wrangler pickup conversion kits

Everything I've read sometimes mentions the 2015 model year for a Wrangler re-design, sometimes 2016. We have some waiting yet. -Dan

Unofficial J30 Jeep JKU Pop Up Thread

Thanks for the link. That's cool how they use the sunroof from the Element. I'm very curious to see how much of a "cut-out" there is for the Wrangler. My hope is they cut out the entire roof. I see two advantages. 1. When the pop-top is closed, there would be a little more headroom in the...

    Jeep Wrangler TJ/LJ Diesel option

According to this page, in an Exterra or Blazer its tuned for 98kW and 340Nm (131hp , 250 ft.lbs.)- I have not yet found gas mileage numbers. It sounds great that it can run on bio-diesel and oil, etc. -Dan

    Jeep Wrangler TJ/LJ Diesel option

I'll chime in: First, If you'd like to see a diesel Wrangler from the factory, sign the Jeep diesel petition! http://jeepdieselpetiton.com Second, here are my thoughts on upcoming diesel swaps for the Wrangler from the DoKa thread: The 2.8 VM diesel currently in the export Wrangler will not...

    AEV Brute Double Cab

The only thing I'd like to throw in there is that the 2.8 VM diesel currently in the export Wrangler will not pass the new Euro emissions standards, and will never pass US standards. This engine is a dead-end and (I think) will soon vanish. The 3.0 from VM/Motori, however, does pass the new...
