I had the same thing in Hawaii; Hurricane was coming in and Didn't want to leave it outside... any bigger and it may have been a casualty to it.

My 295/75R16 BFG KOs were just a bit bigger than I had expected, just a hair over 33 inches when mounted and on the Jeep. A 315 is closer to a 35x12.5R17 but still smaller (maybe half an inch), so I would have to believe a 285/75R17 would be close to a full 2 inches in size difference.

I still would rather not have to fight that battle. When it comes time for a warranty to come through when it is called upon, I trust the muscle of a big company like Ford than I do some aftermarket tuning company.
