    Potty Tent

I'm going to have to give that a try RTF! Thanks for the tip. I assume you are using the plastic vice paper ones and just tying them off when done?

    Solar advice. Please help.

I'm in a similar boat with my JKU and where to connect solar to Genesis DBS. I IM'd the company on Facebook yesterday and he promptly responded that the starting battery is the recommended location. He will be adding it to the FAQ and is looking at making a video about how his system works...

    Potty Tent

I usually get these at Cabelas. With 2-3 people using it it can get fairly expensive using a new bag after every elimination. We typically change the bag out daily as a result and have only had an overfill issue (unable to zip it shut) once. If it happens to you, just fill it up with loose...

    Potty Tent

I use the annex under my RTT and a Luggable Loo. It is extremely nice not to have to run outside in the middle of the night- especially when it is raining/snowing or just downright cold. It can stink a bit in the summer heat, but it isn't overwhelming or nauseating so long as you keep the lid...

Do you remove your awning for daily vehicle use?

I leave mine on full time as well. My RTT pretty much lives up there too. To me, it isn't worth chasing that extra mpg or two. As far as security, I have had my Jeep broken into and they didn't even touch it...YMMV. If you are overly concerned you could easily lockwire the nuts as an...

    Solar advice. Please help.

One advantage to permanently mounting your battery side connections is your ability to leave your hood closed while the solar is connected. You can either use a Anderson connector or the likes that is capped and loose while driving (tucked away underhood somewhere) or a morepermanent solution...

Does a DIY awning need a full frame or just a couple of poles?

I have used the cheapo Coleman spare nested tube tent poles you can get for ~$10 at Wally World before in a very similar arrangement. They have a spike at the top for inserting in the tarp grommet. You then attach your guy line hoop over the spike to capture the tarp. I always have a couple...

    "Contractor" rack for Wranglers?

It also depends on the soft top you're running. My OffRoadHeros top rolls forward from over the sound bar permitting use of any exo-style rack without having to disturb it. With regards to the OP's question, the closest thing I have seen is a front hitch mount field goal type attachment.

Tepui Autana - great tent, great service

If you are on the shorter side like me (I'm 5'9") I'd recommend getting one of those plastic folding steps when zipping the annex on. Maybe I'm just out of shape, but keeping my arms up in the air while coercing the annex zipper around the perimeter in the summer heat can wear you out fairly...

    Who likes the Telescoping ladder?

I have the telescoping ladder (Tepui) and it gets the job done. I can be a bit frustrating trying to get it at the Goldilocks height. In order for it to lock in at a certain height I find that the ladder is at a less than ideal angle or one side of the tent is angled up a bit. I really wish...

Experience of Sleeping in a RTT?

Unless you are quite rotund, you shouldn't have a problem with the tent moving about throughout the night. One of the advantages of a RTT is that you DON'T have to find the most ideal location because of your suspension and you are only concerned with where the tires touch the ground. If the...

Configuring a Gobi for RTT + More

I'm really digging those clamps, Chmura. I may have to give those a shot. I found them available on Amazon fairly cheap: http://www.amazon.com/INCRA-Build-It-Hold-Down-Clamp/dp/B000W07PEM

Configuring a Gobi for RTT + More

A word of caution on the Gobi (I've had one on a H3 and on my current JKU). The height of the crossbars on the Stealth variety are too low to mount a RTT with the expectation of R&R'ing with any frequency unless you have really long infant-sized arms and hands. The Ranger height sides are much...

    Tepuifest 2016 - Oct14-16

I'm seriously considering making the drive down for this event.

    **Tepui RTTs and Accessories**

IAJK - Are you able to fully open (90*) and shut the tailgate/tire without whacking the ladder? I've been contemplating rotating my Autana to open from the rear. As far as the annex fitting in the bag, stuff it in there like you would a mummy bag rather than trying to roll it. You'll find...

    How to stay cool

Keep your windows open during the day to take advantage of the breeze. It won't get much cooler than ambient, but it sure beats the oven that they can become. I use a pair of Coleman tent fans on the particularly warm nights. IIRC, there was someone on here that put some reflective foam...

ARB vs TEPUI Awnings - which is better?

I used some JB weld on the inside and then glassed the outside to keep the pin in place. The proper solution is to not use plastic to hold the pin in the tube, at least they used a graphite infused plastic vice the crap you find on cheap folding chair hinges. The plastic and rod only extend...

ARB vs TEPUI Awnings - which is better?

They're pretty much the same design with the same achilles heel (the pins connecting the crossbars to the legs). Pick your preferred size and go from there. FWIW, I am happy with my 6' Tepui.

    **Tepui RTTs and Accessories**

I'm fairly certain that is exactly what people think I have when I'm at a music festival surrounded by ground tents.

RTT Owners - Double Wide Sleeping Bag or Sheets + Comforter?

We do pretty much the same as Mass_MOPAR. The big positive to the sheets/comforter approach is that the RTT becomes truly self contained (our double bag makes closing it too big a PIA to leave it inside).
