you won't be able to attach the 2wd R150 to a tcase unless you swap tail housings and output shaft (I believe) to a 4wd housing/shaft and buy an R150 to 4-cyl tcase adapter. Not sure if Marlin still makes the adapter. I've owned 3 of them over the course of multiple R150 equipped vehicles.
I'll bet you're already over payload on your crewmax with 2 people in the cab. 3/4 ton/1-ton has less to do with towing and more to do with payload these days.
Correct. Been available since 07 in that config. kind of odd looking.
Nitro Gear and Axle stretched their CrewMax years ago. Pretty sure it was on here at one point.
your son's first truck? I personally wouldn't modify it until he's had a lot of seat time and knows that the truck can and cannot do. From there, modifications can be targeted to what has been learned.
And those better surveys and studies are.... where? @Kaisen asked, and now I'm very interested because it keeps being said "there are better" but no additional data provided.
Could be... but never seen it outside of Toyota... and, arguably, they sold millions upon millions with a "full" input shaft.
/probably keep me up at night.
IMHO, the highlighted is a very misleading. Outside of the Rubicon, TRD Pro (maybe), Raptor and Powerwagon, off-road performance is not a consideration in design for mass-produced vehicles that rarely see anything but pavement.
IIRC, the Power Wagon is significantly heavier than a regular 2500, by about #300... but the rating is still about 1/2 of the same configuration Ram BigHorn.
99.9% of tacoma owners will never take their truck off-road or overload it, so Toyota likely spends much more time tuning for "comfort"...
you can't state it's a non-issue, complain that anyone who disagrees with you is listening to internet fallacies... just saying, your opinion is just as valid as anyone else's... but discounting everyone else's because you disagree is dumb.
