    Waxy contaminant in propane line

Well after this weekend I guess I'm back to suspecting the hose. I left the 10# tank at home and used one disposable green cylinder the whole Labor Day weekend. It ran ok but I noticed it would start off strong and then ran at probably 80% throttle. I figured it was just the flow rate of the...

    Waxy contaminant in propane line

Over the past few weeks I have been tearing down the stove and cleaning all fittings, lines, and burners. I used a torch to 'melt' out the grease and q-tips to get those hard to reach areas. I pulled the Jets and made a tool to get the valves apart. At least now I know how to do all this in the...

Anyone with an AT Overland Summit?

Anyone have pictures to post or more impressions to add? I've been back and forth with ATO and hopefully they will have an option for the long bed folks this fall. It's not exactly what I was hoping for but am trying to be patient to see what they come up with.

    Ram with canopy

Ouch, I didn't realize that the 50Ten canopies were $37k ? That's almost what I paid for my truck new in 2006! We're seriously looking at an AT Overland Summit but I'm still waiting to see what their solution is for the long bed trucks. I would like to do something different from our bed...

Duracell !2v Grp 31 AMG back at Sams Club...$179

While not really 'long' term I've had mine installed as a 3rd battery under my Dodge Ram for about a year and it's worked out just fine. It's fed via a Blue Sea ML-ACR relay, 2/0 cables, and all power runs through a Victron BMV-712 shunt so I know the status of the battery at all times. It...

    Waxy contaminant in propane line

-I contacted them last week and the guy who builds their hoses had not run across this before for what it's worth. -no, there was no notable residue in the NPT end of the hose, in the regulator output, the tank fitting on the regulator, or the tank output. -the tank is about 1/3 full. I use...

    Waxy contaminant in propane line

Nope. I've found other threads on this forum and others that folks were trying to track down what fitting this was. I'm less concerned with the fitting type as I am the reason it's plugging up in the first place. I guess the reason I'm skeptical about it being the hose is how can the hose...

    Waxy contaminant in propane line

That's the one I was looking into and (linked in my first post) but after posing a question on filtering out the greasy stuff to the seller I got a response of "No, this only filters particulates. The oily residue can be the result of a few things, hoses being used incorrectly, overheated...

    Waxy contaminant in propane line

In this picture I had disconnected the regulator from the hose to inspect inside. That NPT male fitting threads into the downstream side of the regulator. The green fitting goes to the tank. The propane tank I'm using is a 10# purchased tank so there is no swapping it out. I have plenty of...

    Waxy contaminant in propane line

I used the stove a bit on a trip this weekend. It started off fine as I had just cleaned out every part I could prior to this trip. At some point mid weekend the burners started spitting and sputtering so I knew it was trouble all over again. Looking in the fitting it had that same stuff in...

    Waxy contaminant in propane line

Well Partner had not encountered this issue before and I spoke with a few folks there. A new hose and regulator assembly is ~$68 and just the hose is ~$33. I'm going to give it another go this weekend and see if I have any more issues before going any further.

    Waxy contaminant in propane line

I'll talk to them. Those Mr. Heater hoses won't work because of the special fitting on the stove end of the hose. I say 'special' cause I've not seen others out there but it may just be a fitting I'm not familiar with. If I don't run the stove out of fuel then I typically press the...

    Waxy contaminant in propane line

I guess that means ordering a new hose from Partner.

    Waxy contaminant in propane line

My cook partner stove has not been running at full capacity lately. I started digging into the issue the other day and found a waxy/greasy yellowish substance in the stove end fitting on the line to the stove. I removed the schrader valve and cleaned things up with q-tips but it keeps coming...

How to clean the top of an awning

Agreed with Shade, contact @rino for advise. I haven't needed to clean mine other than the bag which gets a big funky over time. I use a combination of simple green and some soft top cleaner we had for a Jeep with pretty good results. I hear the 303 stuff is pretty good too but haven't tried...

Bed rack fabrication for RTT -- 06 Dodge Ram 3500

That's a Skottle from Tembo Tusk. It's basically a discada/disco/cowboy wok with a single burner propane stove attached to the bottom. Easy to set up, easy to cook on, easy to clean up, convenient to pack on trips. There's lots of info on here about them.

Cook Partner stove FAQ / Master thread

One more thing I use is a flint striker (like used on oxy/acetylene rigs) as my starter. It never runs out of fuel and conveniently hangs on the windscreen rods. I toss it in the stove when I'm packing up so it's always there when I need it next.

If you're interested in a work surface for your stove stand look into having a Richlite cutting board made. I found a site called The Cutting Board Company (no affiliation) that had great service, website, and was shipped very quickly. They also have other materials as well if bamboo, hdpe...

Bed rack fabrication for RTT -- 06 Dodge Ram 3500

A few weeks ago I managed to get out for a solo trip to one of my favorite spots. The kids were at their grandparents for the summer and my wife had a weekend planned with friends. The creek was great for cooling off and it was nice to just chill, cook, drink, read, and relax...

Bed rack fabrication for RTT -- 06 Dodge Ram 3500

How do you remove your rtt? It's hard to believe we've had this thing on here for almost 3 years now! It being summer in the south there isn't much camping going on for the next month or so and I decided to pull it for a bit. This should give me an op to clean things up a bit and lighten the...
