If that truck is the one you're wanting to modify then it would be much more simple (and likely cheaper) to do a SAS rather than retrofitting the 4WD IFS. If you really wanted to do the IFS, you'd be better off finding a 4WD IFS truck and swapping in the Auto trans and the 1-ton rear end. If...
I was sad to miss the event. I had to survive on photos and live feed coverage online. Looks like it was another great event, and I can't believe how big it has become in such a short time.
.
glad you were able to stop by and see the Tepui stuff that was "on site". It's always good to hear...
As has been mentioned, you'll want to be around 6' high. The ideal range is somewhere between 6' and 6'8". Here's a photo of my standard Autana with the adjustable rack set at 6'. You can see there is a little bit of slack in the walls of the annex at 6' but still very acceptable.

The rack...
Not the best photo, but this is a Tepui Ruggedized XL mounted to my trailer. The rack the tent is mounted to is quite a bit smaller than the base of the tent and the tent hangs off each end by several inches. I've been using it this way for a few years now with no issues.
radorsch will need to clarify, but I have had a Gran Sabana on the roof of my 80 and I've seen them used on 100 series cruises with no issues, all centered on the racks. You shouldn't have any problems.
I currently do some fairly long distance trips with a solid axle rig, my 80 Series Land Cruiser. I know of many others who do as well, and the 80 series is has a remarkable reputation for that kind of travel worldwide. The problem with the 80 series is that the newest ones are almost 20 years...
A Land Cruiser with full-time 4WD (open diffs) and a center diff lock will not have the traction performance of a similar rig with part-time 4WD and a mechanical (electric/air etc) locking diff in the rear axle if that matters to you. One example of this would an 80 series Cruiser with open...
I agree. Although here in the west there are many desert roads that can get completely washed out in a rainstorm and change completely in a matter of hours. It's not uncommon to have a dry, mellow drive in and on the drive back out on the same road for it to be quite treacherous. These are...
Not sure I agree with this entirely. I think it is true to a point that you can keep yourself out of trouble by being smart about where and how you travel. But I can say that in every case that I have ever had to use a winch, I was not "looking for trouble" or intentionally venturing into...
I've been very happy with the ComeUp winches I have had. I had one on my Tacoma and now have one on my Land Cruiser. Everyone has an opinion which is good for different points of view. I've had a few Warn winches in the past and for me I think the ComeUp has equaled the Warn's in every case...
The answer is yes, there is not room in the front to run tire chains.......usually. We tried on my BIL's LX a couple weeks ago. He is running OEM 18" wheels and 295's. There is not enough room between the tire and the top of the spindle/upper control arm. He was able to run them on the back...
I have started taking pre-orders for the Gran Sabana Ruggedized that we expect to have ready to ship in a few weeks. These are limited quantity and we expect them to go fast. We have ordered some in Olive Green and some in Haze Grey as those were the most requested colors. If you're...
It's really going to depend on the amount of room you feel you need to be comfortable (which can vary from person to person). The Autana will fit 2 fullsize adults quite comfortably and have a little room left for a bit of gear. Of course you can store lots of gear in the annex if you choose...
