I figured the roof rack would I just wasn't sure about the ladder.
You can find a used G for under $20,000 just like you can find a used Toy or LR.
Plus I like the fact that the factory has put in the extra effort to make accessories that are useful for overlanding/off roading. Universal...
But will all the accessories be available in NA or the US? If you are not able to get the full thing maybe you can build up one. Will the rack and ladder fit older G-Wagens. I know not all the rear doors are the same so I was wondering about clearance issues. I wouldn't mind finding an older...
I've seen guys take a little bungee from the base to the lifting foot back to the base to get rid of the rattles, that and a handle keeper should get rid of most of the rattles.
I think it would be nice in areas where you might have snow or ice. I would hate to have to chip ice out of the mechanism. That and it should help in dusty and muddy conditions from letting grit get into the mechanism.
I didn't mean you Beowulf, I meant those that don't already have a subscription and see the pdf and are like this looks cool and don't realize what they have been missing out on.

That is what I'm looking for secured tie down straps that are cut resistant and lockable. I like that they are coated as well to protect your cargo from being scratched up.
What are some dependable tie down straps? I am looking to use them on my rack so they would need to be UV stable. I was wondering what has been used, what to stay away from, and what you like. I don't mind cam buckle or ratchet. I will probably use a mixture. I was wondering if there are...
The passenger compartment looks intact. Most modern companies have the crumple zones to lessen the impact to the passengers so these areas might not be made as strong, so it could be reasonable for these areas to be easily destroyed in a blast.
That is ridiculous that they wouldn't sell him a tire because it would break up a set. What do they expect us all to be mall cruisers with donut spares? How long would it have taken them to order in a new set of tires? Honestly.
When you look at your rack are you wanting it to end about where your SD rack curves up for the hump?
So I looked at my SD rack and where it bends up, it is ~3" longer then from the B pillar than where the rear of the basket is located from the D pillar mount. I do have the high rack and not...
After looking at my drawing it might appear that there is a diagonal brace, what that is supposed to represent is the rear tubing across the back of the basket.
Here are some quick drawings.
Notice on the second one that the section of tubing above the rear clamp is not there.
This is not my disco I grabbed a picture that I thought would be easy to illustrate my ideas. I think it is from EE. The drawing idea is though.
Another thought to keep it looking like the SD rack is to replicate the front of the rack to the second footing clamp. Then then add a section that is like the rear of your SD.
Or you could do the front like the SD and the rear like the SD. Same like the one above, but with the section from...
