    Opinions on Roverracks.com

It was my impression that coatings don't stick that well to galvanizing they do stick better to phosphate washes though. I believe that the SD racks had a phosphate wash of some sort.

    Hood Blackouts

Maybe something for the Xterras, they have a hood similar to the Discovery's. Also a hood decal reminiscent of the classic Toyota Pickups of the 80s with the stripe that fades on the drivers side. Like this. But then you would also probably need to supply the side decals as well.

    Springtail Solutions for Disco II

As far as reliability Toyota yes, Jeep no. Resale values well that is debatable for FJ80s that sold for 20k more and are only worth maybe a few thousand more than a similar year Discovery that everyone compares them to. Now I didn't mention Toyota though is the problem. I mentioned the FJC...

    Springtail Solutions for Disco II

I like the idea of the Olivares table a little better for the rear door, like this one on Sinuhe's Discovery. Does that mean to fit Land Rovers or to be built to OEM standards. Land Rovers are held to a higher standard than a Jeep. Don't stoop down and make your Land Rover a Jeep or FJC...

Convert a VW van into a Unimog.

It would have been nice if the axle was narrower. The way those wheels stick way out takes away from the appearance. Neat concept, probably excellent engineering, poor visual aesthetics. Of course I am not a big van guy to start out with. I think it would look better with the hubs pulled in.

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

With a little engineering a Jeep door handle could possibly be used to get the same effect and give a stock look.

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

Land Rover Discoveries have a latch for the rear door on some models. Some models come with rear jump seats so this is a necessity, there is even a child lock to prevent a child from opening.

Weakest point in winch and rigging?

I agree that there were so many things that should not have been attempted. Unfortunately many don't think about would could happen if something were to go wrong. Look at all the crap flopping around in the bed of the Toy. Get rid of it or secure it. Simple little things can have a big effect.

Weakest point in winch and rigging?

He did try to pull from the rear. I originally saw the clip on Facebook. I didn't know if it would post here or not. If so it is a little clearer. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/video/video.php?v=86450905441&oid=2204603930

Weakest point in winch and rigging?

I agree. The tow truck driver operator seemed pretty clueless.

Frame Bending Here is a video of a recovery when the frame was the weakest link. Right around the 7:50 minute mark is when it goes bad. Sure glad that wasn't me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEWHqIOGsVo Now if he was going to daisy chain it like that he should have hooked up to a rear...

    Best Hot cocoa

I too do not drink coffee, I also don't drink tea. So my choices for hot drinks are usually hot chocolate, cider, or wassail. My wife got my into this Williams-Sonoma hot chocolate. Has a real creamy texture. Warm 1 cup milk or light cream on medium-low heat. Whisk in 5 tbs chocolate...

    Chevy Kodiak

A few months ago we got one of the Kodiaks back and they wanted to charge us something like $1700 for repairs. We told them, but you have never fixed the problem we keep bringing it back for the same thing. They let us have it no charge. A week and a half later boom. Safe Mode transmission...

    Chevy Kodiak

At work we use Chevy Kodiaks with the 6.6L Duramax '04 model year. It is only two wheel drive though. We have had several problems with the Allison transmission. We do use a PTO setup to run equipment of the back end of the truck. The Allison transmission does like to go into safe mode...

PLUM TV piece from 2008 National Land Rover Rally

@ 4:42 it shows how not to use a Hi-Lift by going into the "No Go Zone". The bar could come back and whack him in the head. That is what I learned from the latest OJ.
