A shovel is worth it’s weight in gold when it gets ugly. When we got 3’ overnight, I cannot count the number of times I shoveled to get unstuck. That said I was able to get where I needed to go in conditions that had 99% of civilian vehicles grounded. The only other vehicles navigating the roads...
Not the lug ends... as an extra layer over the wire insulation. If the insulation was to be worn through by a sharp edge, the pair of batteries will erplode it ththe lead shorted out.
I’m not sure if the configuration of the 2/00 would allow it, but I’d recommend protecting the battery leads with split loom. The ambulance upfitter did that on my rig and it seems to be a good way to avoid unwanted battery explosions. ;)
My rig is a bit older... but I've been told back in it's day, 95% of all cutaway vans were Ford. This is likely why there is so much aftermarket support for Ford vans.
I'm very happy with it's setup and the 7.3 PSD.
CRD 50
These compressor fridges will work up to a 30 degree angle and are far more efficient than 12/propane units.
Draw is very low. 6 amps max while running. 1-1.5 amp/hour average is rating.
I looked at them, but went with a CRX-50 instead. One of the companies on here, making rental vans, was using CD-30 Drawer Fridges in their vans. They had a few pics of them under a cabinet or seat.
I don’t think you’ll ever get it to seal up quite the same if you pull it off... I don’t think it would be worth the work. Moving it once its off would be a near... think 6000 lbs.
For reference
7.3 - 920lbs dry
V10 - 620lbs
5.4. - 500-550 lbs
The 880s are HD springs to carry a 7.3... given the V10 is 300 lbs lighter, they’ll ride harsher.
What is your van’s front axle weight? Rear?
My rig is 3000lbs front and 6000ish lbs rear. I found it bottomed out and swayed violently side to side on potholed roads. 880s and Bilstein shocks are way better.
I found emailing Bilstein was useful. They recommended HD vs the comfort option for my rig. I bought comfort from a forum member for the front... they are 100x better than the originals, but if I was buying them over I’d do HD like the rear, and a tad longer to pair with the 880s (even with a...
If you plan to do a facelift in the future, you’ll have to paint again costing $$$$$$$$$$$$$
I’d spend more now to save $$$$ in the long run if that was the plan.
That said, I have no intention of changing the front... it wouldn’t fit the look of the round corners of the ‘97 ambulance box...
