What is the greatest overland vehicle ever sold new in the US?

At the risk of having my head exploded from comments, I noticed no one nominated the Land Rover LR3/4's...why is it every time some Jeep or Toyota driver rides with me, they say the same thing with a smile... "Ok, now I get it..." Overlanding usually includes some on road driving so you should...

    LR2's

I drive both a 2013 LR2 and a 2005 LR3. MPG for the LR2 is about 50% greater than LR3 in normal driving on average. I can drive the LR3 to places that the LR2 can only dream about, and with greater comfort. I'm comfortable with the LR2 on most forest service roads, but without low range, and...

    My First Radio

A great starter under $300 is the Anytone radio. Mine is about 18 months now and going strong. Spend the big $$$ on a good antenna and mount. Every Day is a Good Day Surfing...Some are just Better Than Others Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Tyre presssures over rocks??

IMHO, 90% of damage to tire sidewalls is from driver error in not picking a good line. Two ply vs three ply may matter to get some more "forgiveness" but not necessary.

Have to ask...but not sure which category...Potty breaks?

The forest service station in Bishop, CA gives out "wag" bags because it is illegal in the wilderness areas to dig a hole to poop. Just ask. Check with your local forest service ranger station or you can pick up a complete setup from...

    Dropping Gas Tank in LR3

I've dropped my fuel tank skid a couple of times to pound out the dents. Used some straps fished up between the tank and the skid to keep the tank from falling. My bet is if you pound out the skid, the tank will pop out on a hot day with fuel in it. Mine did. Hopefully you didn't damage the...

Does anyone have experience with the Dual XGPS160 in tandem with a Android tablet?

It works great with an Android tablet and I've used mine for a year. Only negative could be battery life. I usually keep the USB plugged into the cigarette lighter all the time when in use. Every Day is a Good Day Surfing...Some are just Better Than Others Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    LR3 Problems

If you check some of the threads from early years of the LR3, the K&N filters have nearly always presented performance problems. Better off to buy multiple filters on Amazon and change frequently, as well as periodically cleaning the MAS sensor with electronic cleaner if you spend much time...

    2015 discovery sport

While I usually like the "don't fix it if it ain't broke" philosophy, if we always followed that we wouldn't have the iPad, the IPhone, Gps's, etc., all things that have not only improved our lives, but also the offroad experience. I applaud LR for their creativity, and willingness to push the...

To be a HAM or not to be a Ham????

A second on the last comment and NVIS. Two weeks ago, we were in Monache Meadows on a trip with LandOps and set up a home made wire antenna (called a half wave dipole for the non-generals) which we tossed up into a tree and staked out the ends which took all if 5 minutes. We made contact...

GAP Diagnostic– new products / IIDTool update announcement 12/2013

I upgraded my beta software to 3.0, but there isn't a battery reset routine. Is that something that was left out of 2005 versions of the beta software? I tried the beta version of the NAV ECU update and it works great. I have full functionality to enter destinations while moving (by a...
