The next day we started out down Ophir pass, crazy colors here -
and passed through the tiny town of Ophir.
Off to Alta Lakes, where we fed the ducks, watched marmots swimming and took pics.
We took Last Dollar Rd up through the rain and landed in a dry spot with amazing vistas of the...
We started out on the famous switchbacks of Black Bear Pass
Saw these crazy kids swinging on cables high above Telluride
Then ran into these guys running the Trans America Trail west from its start in TN.
Bridal Veil Falls and Smuggler-Union Hydroelectric power plant from above, the...
Yes, quite a handy barrel of monkeys to have around. Let’s see – alternator/serpentine belt replacement, blown oil pressure line, fuel pump, vaporlock, magic disappearing unibearing bolt and probably a couple things I forgot. Not one thing phased this group.
Passing through the ghost town of...
The UP is so beautiful, as usual your pics do justice. Can't wait to see everyone else's.
You guys ROCK for making it a point to bring this area to everyone's attention. I had so much fun there thanks to y'all, and just scratched the surface ... I'll be back
After an 820 mile drive back from Idaho yesterday, it’s time to sort through pics. May take a bit.
After setting up base camp,
we took a short drive to Clear Lake
where the wildflowers were blooming. We had a short but intense hailstorm up here, bad luck for those trying to fish.
Hiked...
What an incredible trip with a great group of people! I can't tell you how much fun I had :sombrero:
Thanks for all your work mapping it out, putting it together, keeping us on track and now ... posting pics.
Epic, yup.
tires and shocks
I was getting ready for a trip and wasn't sure whether to do tires or shocks first on the Tiger. It's just as easy to do changes on the road as it is at home, so I left without doing either.
I didn't know how much life was left on my rubber but something had to be done about...
It's a Pioneer AVH-P1400DVD, courtesy of Esmi. With more bells and whistles than I've sorted out yet.
I definitely approve of the camera - I can parallel park now :victory:
Thanks Mike - I figure the cost of the camera is less than the cost of one deductible :)
I've collected assorted bits of documentation about these Tigers over the years. Something that came with this one which I've never seen before is some structural drawings of the coach frame. They seem...
I'm pretty sure that's another one of their distributors, called them when I was trying to order mine a few years ago.
Strangely, they had none in stock at the time :sombrero:
Yep - at FRP there is a picture of something called a "Flippac Jr" mounted on a red Suburban. It's basically two lids which are hinged together instead of the truck shell hinged to a lid. Mounted on a rooftop rack, done several years ago.
[edit - it was an explorer]
I've explained to Homer...
HAM radio and backup camera
That little tool has saved my bacon and sanity more than once, it's one of my favorites.
Couple more small fixes and doodads inside. Also there's no hope for this thing, so out with the rear passenger marker light:
and in with this one:
Except for being a...
Smitty, you’re not the first Tiger owner to have seller’s remorse – I think it happens every time actually. Thanks for doing your part though, and enduring the loss :D - for now!
A couple nights ago I was messing around with night shots and thought I’d see what the differences were between...
bathroom sink repairs
One other thing needed help right away, and that's the bathroom sink/shower.
Unlike the GT/XL, this Tiger's bathroom has its own sink and is several inches wider – I measured 28” wide at the sink height, plenty big enough to actually move around in...
Siberian pictures from OVX12
lqhikers, I really like how the rear of yours looks with the smaller window and high up tailights. I also like how the Siberian's coach windows can all be opened for a very open feeling.
I just realized I never linked my Siberian pictures anywhere. Here's the one...
