    CB Radio Coax Cables

Stu offroad has an interesting article discussing the 18' cable myth. http://www.stu-offroad.com/misc/myth-1.htm I've used a whole range of cable lengths and have never had a problem getting the SWR down to 1.3 or less. - Matt

    Post your sunrays!

Thanks. I think that was shot with the 18-55mm Canon kit lens. :) Actually, at around f8 that lens is fairly sharp and takes nice shots. - Matt

    Post your sunrays!

This is the only sunray photo I have online. Taken on highway 50 in the middle of Nevada. How about a different kind of light ray, these are the lights from PacBell park in San Francisco (cheating, I know). - Matt

    What Wire/Cable for my compressor

We hard mounted a Puma in a friends Xterra and used 4g wire, it's been running fine for several years now. If I could fit my Puma in the truck I'd much rather have used than than the MV-50. - Matt

    What Wire/Cable for my compressor

Depending on how much current your compressor draws and how long the power wire will be you can likely use 8 gauge wire. I've had good luck with KLMX kable from KnuKonceptz on other projects. http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMaster.cfm?category=KLMX%20Kable Here's my OBA install that uses...

    On board air in a 2000 4runner

James, I've used it quite a bit over the last year and it has held up extremely well with no issues. In the next week or two I'm planning to convert my trailer hitch into a ~1 gallon air tank and feed the compressor into that. - Matt

    Coleman Pack-Away Camp Kitchen

I've had one of the Coleman kitchens for the last several years and have taken it on 10+ offroading trips, in fact I just used it this weekend. It has held up amazingly well and has suffered zero problems, I've been very happy with the product. - Matt

    2000 4runner Sport Build

Danimal, My tires are 32" diameter. I've heard you can fit a 33" under the truck if you air it down, but I haven't personally tried that. 111db, Conveniently the Edgestar has a built in low voltage cut off. I've tested it in my garage to make sure it works properly so I won't be stranded. -...

    2000 4runner Sport Build

cruiserbent, Ideally I'd like to have gone with the 255s, but with my 5spd transmission that would have required a regear which was more than I wanted to spend. There's only a 0.5" clearance difference under the differential so I didn't think it was worth the expense. CYi5, Yup, I replaced...

    2000 4runner Sport Build

Thanks for the nice comments. I just returned from a 3 day camping trip with the EdgeStar and it worked flawlessly. We loaded it up Friday morning and headed out of town, the temperature stabilized at 37F during our drive the to campsite. Overnight the temps were in the 40s so the fridge didn't...

    Edgestar Fridge Modifications Thread

I just setup an FP430 in my 4Runner. The plug was falling out of the stock rear power outlet so I upgraded both to marine locking types. Full install descriptions is at the following link: http://wwww.blankwhitepage.com/automotive/2000-toyota-4runner/edgestar-fp430 Here's the new rear power...

    We need a Unisolar hack

Here's another option that looks very promising. It's the PVL-62 mounted on a black aluminum frame in a 5x2 cell configuration (49.5"x31.25"). At 24lbs it's heavier than would be ideal. http://www.solardepot.com/pdf/Uni-Solar-ES-62.pdf I haven't been able to find pricing on this model yet. - Matt

    We need a Unisolar hack

Don, I was thinking about this same issue earlier today and sent an email to Uni-Solar asking about the feasibility of cutting a PVL-68 panel in half and re-wiring it so the pieces could be side by side resulting in a ~4.6' x 31" array. I would expect this to work fine since the cells are...

Small world, I think this is about 1 mile from where I live. There's 2 Chinooks on a single block in Berkeley off of University, I didn't know there were so many in the area. - Matt

    Big Sur - Prewitt Ridge

I went camping up there a month ago, it's a very nice spot. When we were there the flies were going crazy, you might want to stock up on bug repellent. My pictures from the trip are available at the following link: http://www.blankwhitepage.com/gallery/t4r_prewitt_ridge_20100501 Have a...
