Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

130k miles on my 2015 3.6R and I enjoyed flogging it on the Tail of the Dragon last weekend, 11/14. Up at 4:15am, on the Dragon before 9am, back home in central KY by 3:30pm. The Outback performed way better than I expected, with plenty of power from the 3.6L and using the paddles to keep the...

I saw a set on a newer Chevrolet w/ fiberglass fenders and they looked great on it too.

Here’s a little music video I made with my truck.

    2022 Ford Ranger

Here's my 13th gen vs. my Dad's 10th gen. Keep in mind, mine has Fox suspension and 34's. It was much lower prior to those modifications. The 10th gen (5.4L Triton) has stock size (small!) tires. Say what you want about the size (I said the same when the 2004's came out), but my truck is...

    F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

On that list, only the freezing door latch is needed. The rest are on an as-needed basis, including the door lock actuator. There is a recall that changes the oil pressure sent to the cam phasers, which made my truck run better. If your cam phasers fail (mine had not) they will replace them...

    F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

60k miles on my 2018 3.5 with max tow. A few recalls, service campaigns, and a failed check valve for the IWE system have been my only problems. Still on original spark plugs. I’ve been leveled since last year and 34’s since early spring. The second gen eco boosts got dual fuel injection. I...

    2003 F250 Expedition/offroad build....

I’m not sure about the F250, but the F150 5.4L has a very restrictive intake track. If K&N, or anyone similar, makes an intake for your truck, it may be worth it for a solid 10-15hp gain.

    (partially) new Tundra coming?

So, the Maverick has similar payload to the Tundra, and optional tow hooks. Interesting.

2 years in: Care and feeding of turbos? (2018 F-150 CCSB tow pig)

The 21B10 field service action is a firmware change to help keep the rattle from happening to begin with, but it will not make the rattle go away. Once damage is done, it's time to take it in and have the phasers replaced. TSB# is 20-2191 I agree with the new dealer recommendation. The...

2 years in: Care and feeding of turbos? (2018 F-150 CCSB tow pig)

I also only run premium, it makes a noticeable difference when you don’t. In addition to the cam phasers, if you have the orange coolant, go get some of the green/yellow from Ford and do a drain and fill once or twice. The orange can apparently create precipitates that clog the bottom of the...

    2021 F150 vs F250

I have a 2018 F150 max tow and I would, hands down, just go buy a 250 Tremor if doing it today. It’s simpler and tougher. When it comes to the 2021 F150, I’m not too excited about the mono rear spring (with one overload….thing).

    New Bronco

Well, let’s start with the mileage. I don’t think it’s that bad for what it’s moving (in the Bronco). The 3.5TT in my 2018 F150 got legit low 20’s before I added a level, 34’s and bypassed the IWE’s. Maybe the gen 1 Ecoboosts weren’t as good, but I love mine so far….58k miles. The 2.7TT...

Running Away with only 40hp: Failing to Find Myself Out West in an Old VW

Ah, 2015, a mere 6 years later and those seemed like simpler times. Regardless, I love your writing style, pictures, and the car. Your time near Ft Robinson, and description of the beauty, is appreciated. I still have family there in Crawford and my parents now own the family ranch up on top...

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

The gas RAV4 has an 8 speed auto. The hybrid, which I have, is eCVT. The hybrid is faster and smoother than the clunky 8 speed gas models. Both are quite capable with good tires. A few of the gas models have a torque vectoring rear diff. The Edge platform has been refreshed a time or two...

    2017 F-150 build...Everyone meet Walter White

I just read about someone on the F150 forums, with a white truck like yours, replacing tons of parts before determining he had a bent rear axle shaft.
