    Bumper Burns

It's been triple digits here for the last 4 days in ol' Georgia - a bit early even for us. I reached in the bed of my truck yesterday evening and nearly gave myself a third degree burn on the black aluminum of the tonneau cover. This started me thinking - it's de riguer for us all to have big...

    Trek 920

I bought one the first year they came out. I've run it all over - gravel rides, bikepacking, commuting to work. It's a great beast, particularly with a few tweaks and some good bags. I run 27.5x2.8 wheel and tire set for aggressive and heavy gravel, and a 29x2.0 touring tire setup for commuting...

Anyone using Cooper AT3 XLT tires?

I thought I'd report back since I've got a few miles on the new AT3 XLTs. I went with 275/70r18 E-rated tires on a factory stock 2013 F150 FX4, moving away from a 265/70 P-rated street tire. I've got about 3k miles on them now, almost all pavement so far. They are very quiet, even at speed...

    Kitchen Kit/Chuck Box

Anybody build a diy watertight or weatherproof kitchen kit? Love the idea but hauling it in the open bed of a pickup, it's hard for me to believe I can DIY it better than a plastic storage box.

Talk Me Out of an OBS as a budget overlanding rig!

I don't blame you. Seriously though, buying in a rust free area and driving it home can be a great way to go for an older vehicle. I just sold the old Jeep listed in my signature to a guy from Detroit.

Talk Me Out of an OBS as a budget overlanding rig!

Sounds like it's time for a fly and drive. Here's a V10 flatbed F-350 in Atlanta for inspiration: https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/d/atlanta-2008-ford-350-v10-68-gas/6807191760.html Yeah, it's only 2wd....

Talk Me Out of an OBS as a budget overlanding rig!

I definitely get the better availability of parts outside the US. With that said, I think you would be better off looking at the early Super Duty style trucks with the second gen 7.3. Like @glock7018 said, the OBS trucks aren't as solid from a frame perspective. I once pulled into a paved drive...

Talk Me Out of an OBS as a budget overlanding rig!

I had a '96 diesel OBS. Great truck even with 239k on it. Remember though, even the newest one is now 22 years old and a lot of them were beat hard. Figure out what's left out of your 20k after buying a camper and then figure you'll spend half of that to buy the truck and the other half to...

New truck cap design available on Fords.

Seems like you get all the down sides of a full camper shell but none of the benefits. Kills visibility, can't get to anything in the bed, but still can't fit any more in the bed than you do under a hard tonneau like the one on the Shelby pickup above. I guess if you had a pre-runner style bed...

    Ford 7.3L

Nice looking engine, like everyone else, I'm interested to see what the MPG claims are. Someone on another forum who has some inside knowledge pointed out that the limited amount of electronic controls mean this engine is something that could be easily managed by an aftermarket ECU system like a...

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

Here's the one in front of the local dealer: It was locked so no inside shots. It looks damn good in person but didnt trigger any buyers remorse walking back to my F150, which surprised me a little.

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

I just saw my first one in the wild - Dealer has a 4dr Black FX4 sitting out front. I'll have to run by after work and take a look at it.

    Not Really a Build, But: 2015 F-150

Nice. I test drove a couple 15s in that color, makes for a beautiful truck.

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

meh. Maybe I've just lucked into vehicles that were built on the right day or used vehicles that were well cared for, but I've never had a vehicle where all the technology went toes up in the fashion everyone expects. The old Grand Cherokee sunroof never leaked, auto headlights worked fine...

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

Why does a tough, durable truck have to be uncomfortable? Or, I guess, more accurately, what's wrong with having a tough, durable truck that also has heated seats? I agree with @tacollie 's little brother. A truck that makes me comfortable enables me to do more work or have more fun when I get...

Dry fire for improving shooting accuracy

@chet6.7 Thanks! great info. I need to look into a dry fire mag or something similar for trigger reset in my Glock and then get on these drills.

Dry fire for improving shooting accuracy

I've looked at a similar system that uses a laser dot cartridge and a phone app to track where the laser hits a supplied target. Price was similar although the Mantisx also requires an adapter for my pistol. How reliable does the motion sensor system feel?
