2020 Bronco estimated Approach and Departure Angles

I think not. They've confirmed that it does not share sheetmetal with the Everest above, that it is true body on frame and 4 wheel drive. I agree it won't get a stick axle up front but I don't think it will matter for capability. As I said before, I'd be happy with the Everest for my needs...

cheap MOLLE / PALS gear mount

Thanks. I put the one in our Explorer on a whim but I was amazed how much I actually used it and how much weight it would handle. I commonly hung a full 3L Camelbak on it. The Jeep window has a lot more compound curves, it was harder to get the fit to look decent.

    XJ/ZJ as budget off roader

I'm using a '97 V8 ZJ as my part time DD and first 4x4. I bought it cheap and neglected but with low miles and no rust. I've put a lot of work into it, but I'm aiming for a higher level of finish than you probably need. I'm running a 2+" Old Man Emu spring set and Bilstein 5100s and it's...

cheap MOLLE / PALS gear mount

Finally found the cheap bits to make this happen. Not the prettiest thing in the world, but not bad Start with small wire shelf. This one was the only one I found locally that was big enough and also wire mesh. $15 at the local Kroger Cut off legs, cut to fit window. A little scrap copper...

2020 Bronco estimated Approach and Departure Angles

I'm really waiting to see the thing. It will be coming into market at a time when I'll be looking for a replacement for the old ZJ, I think, and I'll be ready to drop the coin on something. I like the looks of the Ranger but I'd prefer an SUV. Like the OP said, I'd have been perfectly happy...

    Does Speed Add Weight?

Mass of a loaded vehicle does not change with speed. (Well, okay, not at measurable amounts at speeds less than approaching light speed.) Weight is the downward force of gravity on a certain mass. Since we can assume here we are talking about driving the vehicle on Earth, Mass and Weight can be...

    Ceramicspeed “Driven” chainless drive

Interesting concept. New materials and execution, but there were shaft drive bicycles in the 1800s - granted they weren't made of carbon fiber or running multiple gears. I always like to see creative approaches but I doubt you'll see many long distance tourers or bike packers using it. A lot of...

Okay, that makes sense. I appreciate the explanation.

    Beginner bike for a non-enthusiast

DaveInDenver is spot on. On a hardtail, you (normally) should just be able to tiptoe the ground if the seat height is right. If you can flat-foot on the ground and stay in the saddle it's too low. When you're riding and your foot is at the bottom of the pedal rotation your leg should be just...

I am thinking of of running air lift bags

I'm still dubious that running a single fill gives the same roll resistance as a double, but you guys have actually run them and I haven't, so I'll defer to your experience. I had one schraeder valve for each shock mounted behind the flip-down tag on the Impala so it was simple to fill them...

    Beginner bike for a non-enthusiast

The saddles they ship OEM on bikes are the worst POS's they can find because they know it's the first thing everyone ditches. More padding on the saddle is not the answer, a better fitting saddle is. Some shops have fit testing stuff as mentioned, but it's also trial and error. There are some...

I am thinking of of running air lift bags

Years ago I had a '70 Impala that I ran old fashioned Gabriel air shocks on to level the rear when the massive trunk was full of luggage on road trips. I found that with both shocks plumbed together it increased body roll significantly. All the air was essentially in one chamber, so when one...

    Beginner bike for a non-enthusiast

Looks like a great bike! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts when you actually get on trail. I'm headed out to ride tonight and I lead a beginner ride after work on Thursdays. I love getting new people involved.

cheap MOLLE / PALS gear mount

On a past vehicle I used sections cut out of an old wire dog crate and mounted them in the rear window insets. I never used molle gear, but they were great for bungees, helmets, camelbaks, and other adventure gear. Haven't got around to doing the windows on the Jeep yet but I plan to. I've been...

    Beginner bike for a non-enthusiast

Everybody hates on triples now, but it's just cause they're not "cool." They work fine. Sure, they're little heavier, but they give you a nice gear spread. Don't get hung up on specs for a first bike. Find one that fits, shifts, and stops and go try out the trails. Remember, only a poor...

    Beginner bike for a non-enthusiast

For your price range almost any major brand will have an entry level bike of similar quality. My suggestion would be to talk to local shops and find a shop you feel good about. Then explain what you're doing and your price range and take their suggestion. No one company has a big advantage in...

I am thinking of of running air lift bags

Good reviews guys, thanks! Sounds like adding a set to my ZJ when we buy a bigger boat would be a good solution to help stabilize everything when needed

SmartBar (polyethylene bullbars from ARB-owned AUS company) making progress?

well, the video shows one punting a cow at probably 30kmh. Certainly more solid than I first thought.

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

It might help some but I only get 12+ mpg around town WITHOUT the boat, so I doubt I've got much to gain. Honestly, nearly 10mpg is probably pretty good, considering the daily mpg. As for the big 85hp 'Rude....yeah. In mixed cruising I burn about 5-6 gal/hour. On the plus side, it's the...
