Does anyone know of an expedition vehicle manufacturer that offers a lifting bed like Bliss Mobil and SLRV? That's a great use of space, but I don't know anyone else who does it.
Sorry for the newbie question, but how many miles (roughly) can one expect to get out of a well-maintained F-550 (say, 50/40/10 highway/side roads/off road).
One of my favorite features is the third wall system, which I haven't seen on any other pop-up. From Truck Camper Adventure's interview with the owner:
Scott Mayfield: One of the features I am most proud of is the cabover third wall system. The middle wall of the accordion wall set up can be...
IMO this is a very nice rig for $238K (if you're in the market for a house-priced vehicle). Only 45K miles, hard-sided pop-up, as much solar and battery power as most people could ever need, etc. Very thirsty, but that goes with the territory.
No affiliation...
I've seen almost nothing in this forum about these vehicles, and they look nice on paper. I actually prefer their interior layout with the lifting bed and separate full bathroom to just about any other similarly sized big rig I've seen. Also, based on the few I've seen for sale second hand, they...
I don't want to derail this thread, but IMO EC has gone off the rails with their pricing. An EXP or FX starts at almost $600K now(!), and they still just offer that sterile-looking white interior with one layout option. Also, features you can get from Bliss Mobile et al. like a lifting bed...

It's not on the OP's list, but the Earthcruiser Extreme is a pretty sweet-looking vehicle for two people if you don't mind relatively tight quarters. https://earthcruiser.net.au/portfolio-item/earthcruiser-extreme-xtr-4-5-tonne-standard-car-licence/
Which is precisely why I asked about the international serviceability/availability of mechanics to work on American trucks. Basic wrenching skills (which I intend to develop before I leave for my trip, btw) can only get you so far. Serviceability matters unless you're a very experienced mechanic...
I hope this isn’t too off topic, but I read somewhere that it’s hard to get American trucks (e.g. Ram) serviced outside of North America. As in, you‘ll probably have to get whatever part shipped from the U.S., and good luck finding a mechanic who can install it (for people like me with no...
Just saw this thread. How effective is the heater in the mid 30s or low 40s? Also, if it rains overnight, about how long does the exterior it take to dry so you can pack it away?
