Tell me more please! When I have time tonight I'll go back through your posts to see if there was something about this I missed, but if you have time please share what you can.
So I hassled an asst. mgr. at the location and found out that someone processed a return as part of a large multi-item purchase including this compressor, so it briefly showed up as available at that one particular location. Gotta love it.
On Casa-Trotter, the French version of Expo, the section for these/our trucks is literally called The Elephants!

Somewhere in those links I posted are references to getting the GVWR of the ranger uprated to/over 3k. Also, I think some failures and issues with that goalset - tread lightly. Even if the frame could handle it, why run that heavy if you don't have to? Keep after the weight savings I say!
What is the makeup of that filler piece (material)? Is this what you did for your subframe construction? How was that handled abuse now that you did some miles?
Thanks heaps for sharing.

Wicked; this is exactly what I was hoping/thinking. I'm about to begin my construction of a DIY 8' long box on a similar platform base and I have been debating the merits of a single spring mount at the cab end of the subframe. Real world proof of concept with a rugged use(d) truck is the kind...
Many thanks! So your box is just shy of 7' long correct? Is it just the single set of spring bolt mounts at the cab-end and the rail bolts at the rear end or is there another set(s) of spring bolts in the middle of the box?
Hey Westyss,
I’m still amazed and in love with this build. What was the lifting/static load rating for the actuators that you finally ended up with? And they were 18” right?
Pics would be awesome when you get to it.
Also, when your daughter’s bunk is lowered, what height is above the mattress for her and how does she handle it? I’m laying out a minimalist box to sleep 5 (crazy I know!) with a very similar footprint to yours. I’ll hopefully have more vertical space...
Hey grunf. been getting great help from your countrymen Gait and Peter_n_Margaret. I head to West Africa myself in a few months and was wondering if I could have a copy of the pdf you made? I'd like to share it with my family and see if we can repeat some of the less crazy elements of their trip.

Impressive all around! Well thought-out and resourceful building/construction methods. Did you ever get to the weighbridge? Also have you had a chance to cross up the suspension? I'm very curious how the pultruded fg subframe handles twist.
Thanks Martin! I should have explained better that I'd already looked over the OP and didn't expect to get any blood from that stone so I thought I'd ask the hive. I'm headed to the same part of the world soon with a startingly similar vehicle setup and wanted to learn a bit if I could. Not a...
