4.30 is available as a factory ratio. ;) If money were no object, I would probably run 4.88.

DRAM 2, Dirt Roads Across Maine.

I keep forgetting to post here but everyone on the trip should check/replace their air filter. I had a brand new filter when the trip started and when I got home I banged out a good 1" pile of dust from it.

    ExploringNH's 2000 Ford Excursion build

Gas powered. 6.8l v10. No power mods at all. I am a fan of keeping the engine as close to 100% stock as possible. 3.73. Honestly, it isn't bad at all. I ran 33's on my 02 4Runner v6 with stock 4.10 and it was not fun. This truck handles them well. I easily cruise on the highway at 80mph and...

    ExploringNH's 2000 Ford Excursion build

Factory GVWR is 8900. I'm surprised you are so heavy. I have a lot of extra stuff on my truck. I have removed all but the front two seats but they were replaced with a sleeping platform, full size mattress, fridge, and all the other stuff inside the truck including some heavy recovery gear. Add...

She's heavy, but not as bad as I was expecting.

Get in touch when you are int he area. The fall is a great time to spend out here. I don't have any photos of the a-pillar mount. It screws with three screws at the bottom into the a-pillar. The reason for this is because of the length of the stock tracks. They don't go very far...

LED Light Bars; Post Up Pics

I had no problems on my Defender with a 50" roof mounted light bar. My Excursion has terrible glare from the hood with a 50" bar on the roof. It is so bad that the roof light is all but unusable at night. I haven't had the time to fab up a deflector but I will over winter.

Pics of rig packed up ready to go?

4 Day trip through Maine. Only stopped for fuel. Everything else needed was in the truck. A lot of people fight for space. My biggest hurdle is finding where I put things. The Excursion is HUGE. Recovery gear, cooking equipment, and camp chairs are under the bed. Non-refrigerated food is on the...

    ExploringNH's 2000 Ford Excursion build

Packed up and ready for another weekend exploring. 43qt fridge temporarily installed. I'm going to rebuild the sleeping platform this winter and don't want to spend a bunch of time on getting the fridge permanently installed now. I like the placement because it can be reached while driving. You...

NH Late Fall Foliage Overland Adventure Route - Completed

THanks everyone. It was a good trip. I'm looking forward to next year. One night a while back I had parked on a little bit of an angle to the side. I woke up in the middle of the night to find myself laying sideways across the mattress. Apparently I fit that way. It's a big truck which has...

Those are all guided but we will...

Trails are limited around the whites. There are some easy forest roads (think stock Subaru). Other than that you have to head west and south for legal roads/trails.

    Trans-New Hampshire Expedition 2014, October 16-19

Thanks everyone. It was a great trip. Can't wait for next year. Yes, that's an air filter. It was too dirty and collapsed on itself. Big problems.

    UJOR Build Thread

I'm sure it has already been covered, but what does the overall height end up being on a setup like this? I know you say that a 6" lift is good for 35" tires and an 8" is necessary for 37s. What is the limiting factor for fitting 37" on a 6"? Do you have to clearance into the cab area to fit...

6" Zone Offroad lift. 37x13.5 Toyos. Buckstop bumpers. I think that covers the basics. :)
