Just Put 4.88's in my 4Runner and.....

I went from 4.10 to 4.88 on my 02 4Runner with 33's (285/75/16) and it was an absolutely noticeable change. 4.30 to 4.88 is a smaller jump but I would still expect it to be noticeable.

    ExploringNH's 2000 Ford Excursion build

The opening will be 7' x 4', almost exactly. The fiberglass top/cover is 8' x 54". I have been thinking about the rack. I do need a place to mount my lightbar and ideally I would want to keep my awning. Both of these require some sort of mount. I thought of a rail running around the outside...

    ExploringNH's 2000 Ford Excursion build

I wanted a better profile for final finishing. The first one was done by hand and although it is good enough, I wanted perfect. Onto the CNC we go. This also opens up the possibility of an aluminum top instead of fiberglass.

I can store it for sure after purchase but I was hoping to sell it sooner to put the funds right into a new rack. The distance thing is killer.

Need an Honest review of an Disco 3

I am daily driving a 2005 Saab 9-3 right now. I would gladly trade my Saab for an LR3 and I would expect it to be much more reliable. If you can handle owning a Saab, the LR3 will be a breeze. They have far less "quirks" and common failure points than a Saab of similar vintage.

FS: Ford Excursion roof rack - Custom built - Southern Maine/NH

Custom built roof rack for 2000-2005 Ford Excursion. I had this rack custom built by Third Shift Fabrication around June of 2014. It bolts into the factory roof rails and the a-pillar door channel up front. This is a heavy duty rack capable of carrying some decent weight. It has mounts for a 50"...

This is the plug for the mold. I'll take the final piece out of the mold, if that makes sense. The real final roof will be in the female mold, hopefully giving a nice smooth finish. All the fiberglass stuff came in today. Pricey little project. Haha.

Maine Winter Romp 2015: Who's going?

You need some sort of mount to mount the antenna to the truck. I like this one, but there are a ton out there. http://www.amazon.com/FireStik-SS-204A-Adjustable-stainless-vertical/dp/B000X3EQ3G/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1420812501&sr=1-1&keywords=firestik+mount

Maine Winter Romp 2015: Who's going?

It is a great tool but you can easily hurt yourself if you use it incorrectly. The good news is that it is very simple in operation and quite easy to learn. The most important thing is to watch a video or two and read a little bit about the safety precautions you should take with it and then...

    ExploringNH's 2000 Ford Excursion build

All done with the mold for the top. It doesn't look like much progress but I am happy with it. I really like the new profile and how it sits. I think it will look nice on top of the truck. I was originally planning to add some ribs to the top to add some strength but I decided to have a clean...

Rumor of Synthetic Winch Rope Issues in Cold Weather?

The only issue I have seen is that it gets wet and freezes to itself on the drum making it hard to pull out. Usually it is easy enough to just put a little muscle into it and work it loose. Sometimes it takes a little more pressure but it always breaks free. I plan on synthetic winch line for my...

    ExploringNH's 2000 Ford Excursion build

Same general plan but mine has a full length hole in the roof with the bed mounted to the floor of the truck. The design of the bolt in frame allows for easy figment of a lifting bed that can be pushed to the roof when parked for standing and lowered when sleeping. I personally find better use...
