Has anyone ever built there own penthouse top???

Funny you say that. I spoke with SMB last year about the possibility of doing something like this. He seemed interested but said he would have to put some thought into the design. Something like this is ideal for larger families - I could put 2 kids on one end, 3 kids on the other, and then...

Putting a license plate on a series

Oh, you mean I'm supposed to actually put the US plates on? I just threw it in the window sideways. I don't have a light either. Depending upon your state, if a vehicle did not come stock with a license plate light, you are not legally required to have one. I never put one on my '56 pickup. For...

You can never have too much Recovery Gear!

Sometimes the technical aspects of a recovery totally make a trip better.

    What would you do with......

I would use it for camp gear or spare parts or whatever I needed to fit in there!

    So it begins....

I would order a spare fuel pump to keep in your onboard spares kit. Easy to install if needed. Some guys just replace the whole unit with an electric aftermarket one but the original fuel pumps are pretty cheap. Oh, until you get the gauge sorted out, figure how many miles you can get out of...

    "Readily available" tire size question

So 255/85's are taller than 285/75's? The tire calculators seem to think not. I don't know, perhaps I should just leave it where it's at...:snorkel:

    "Readily available" tire size question

Hmmm, the tire calculator that I used on the web said the tire was smaller than the 285/75R16's I am running now. What internet machine tire calculator is the most accurate?

    "Readily available" tire size question

WOuldn't I need 15" rims for those? I'm trying to avoid buying new rims. That size would be smaller than what I currently run. Hmmmm... probably what I will end up with.

    Discovery 1 Gas Cap?

Any gas cap that properly fits should do the trick. I never ran a OEM gas cap on my old DI and did not have a problem passing smog. By "inspected", do you mean smog or ?

    "Readily available" tire size question

Currently running 285/75R16's on the rangie. They need to be replaced soon. I am contemplating going a bit higher but I don't want to go wider. What readily available metric size is comparable to a 34" tire? The key words here are "readily available". I have used the tire size calculators...
