I ended up replacing the control arms. The holes were oval and there was no way of saving it. It looked fine when I looked over the whole suspension but the noise was still there... Wish I had a picture.
EDIT. This is a picture of the replacement part but you can see the 3 bolts beside the...
I had an issues with mine at the lower control arm. The 3 bolts holding the lower balljoint in were shifting side to side and the holes were elongated. I looked for a long time before I found the issue. Also look at the upper strut mount. Mine was worn out at the cup that holds the bearing in...
I'm biased towards the WJ because I own one.
I wouldn't keep Toyota off the list because you had a bad experience with a poorly rebuilt one that's nearing 20 years old. I do however agree with you that Toyotas do have a premium price. You can get a good 1st gen Sequoia for a decent price.
Your current setup will have your engine struggling to keep the set speed. It will take you out of your power band and therefore cost you mpg. Your Bronco was built and engineered for a certain tire size. The diff gears were meant to match the transmission and engine power band. If you go out of...
I think you're going the wrong way. You should go up to 3.73 or 4.10. Especially if you plan on going with bigger tires. You'll lose a lot of mpg with longer gears and bigger tires.
It's been an ongoing pain in the butt. Every time I change something suspension wise it starts vibrating again. Hoping the sye and new driveshaft will solve my problems. Cross fingers
Managed to get the rear suspension up a little bit with my leftover 10mm OME spacers. Got a really annoying driveline vibration that doesn't seem to go away. Tried adjusting the pinion angle with no luck. I think the driveshaft just isn't long enough.
I bought a 242HD select trac transfer...
Every setup has pros and cons. It's hard to find something that works with every situation. I love how you managed to keep everything simple. Makes want to build my R50 QX4...I'll show this thread to the wife and try to get approval lol.
Took the Jeep out for a shake down run yesterday. Went fairly well. Small adjustments needed here and there but I'm very pleased with the outcome. Didn't take many pictures.
This is definitely my new favourite
Got some dirt on there finally.
Love the new colour on the wheels.
I'm...
I was at the same crossroad a few months ago. The appeal of a newer "better" vehicle is nice but I just couldn't justify having monthly payments or losing all the time and money I've put into my Jeep. I decided to keep doing my thing and dig deeper into the never ending modification hole...
I've got vertical play on my Alloy USA (made in taiwan) joint on the driver side. Passenger side is tight. I was going to replace with Synergy but looks like I'll "steer" away from them...
I'm running OME HD front + 2inch BB and IRO 4.5HD rear springs. It's a little higher in the front than the rear right now but I'll work on leveling it later once I get the rest dialed in.
