    Norwegian Unimog U1700L camper build

Hello Charlie, To be honest I'm not sure what the track of the axles and wheel offset is for my Unimog, but I can check it later on. The wheels on it now is R13x22.5. But in the registration papers my Unimog is listed with R14.5x24 as standard/original tire dimension. My long term plan was...

    Norwegian Unimog U1700L camper build

Thanks Jostein, We are at the moment a bit in the "thinking box" about whether to fabricate the camper box our self of GRP sandwich panels, or if we should have someone buildt the empty shell of sandwich plates. I have sendt price inquiries for production of the empty camper shell to a couple...

    Norwegian Unimog U1700L camper build

Since the door covers turned out so great we decided to go with the same fake leather inside the extended roof. Three 6,5mm plywood plates where cut to fit, the center one with a big cut-out for the roof hatch. Then they wherecovered with the fake leather and bolted to the existing roof...

    Norwegian Unimog U1700L camper build

We also redid the door trim. The old was saggy and worn, so we removed the old black leather imitation. Luckily the inserts where in good shape and could be re-used. So after gluing on some new fake leather (marine quality), they were as good as new. When re-installing them we decided to insert...

    Norwegian Unimog U1700L camper build

We (the wife and I) decided not to do any modifications to the existing dashboard, except form painting it, all additional instruments, switches, stereo etc. will instead be mounted in an overhead console above the front windscreen. The finished design is not yet made, but probably it will end...

    Norwegian Unimog U1700L camper build

The dashboard needed an upgrade, it was full of scratches and rust, so I removed all of the plates, sanded them down and put on a couple of layers satin black paint. An easy job which in my opinion made it look a lot fresher:-)

    Norwegian Unimog U1700L camper build

Update:-) So time is flying and spring is in the air here in Norway. And the cab is slowly getting re-assembled. Still a lot left, but step by step we'll get there! New front windscreen and rubber is now installed. I also replaced all of the rubber on the side windows, sadly quite costly, but...

    Norwegian Unimog U1700L camper build

Thanks Sitec:) The wheels are R13x22,5, and came with the truck. But I am considering changing to R14x24 (which is listed as theoriginal dimension in the registration papers), as it would lower the revs at crusing speed by some 100-rpm's + give a bit wider contact area with the ground...

    Norwegian Unimog U1700L camper build

Then starting to put things back together, (pictures taken yesterday): Now the next step will be to install new front windscreen (I cracket the old one...), and install the side windows in the doors, with new rubber, after I refurbish and paint the guidance frames. When this is all...
