    For Men Only!

I don’t get the 9 forward gears, 3 reverse statement. Weren’t these 3 speeds with 2 speed transfer case?

Any info of this Tacoma hardshell camper set-up?

The Drifter is also made in the US, as is the new AT pop-up. It’s great to see domestic competition for what had been a Euro/Australia/SouthAfrican thing.

Gas or propane what do you like better?

I recently had to use the Stansport propane converter I bought “just in case”, with my two burner Coleman white gas stove. Well, I had one of those “cases”, and it worked great ... reminded me that propane has some advantages. With one green can it doesn’t take up much space and will always be...

    T100 Crunchy Front End

As @andysgreenxj said it’s the steering stops. Regular dabs of grease cures it. Do it yourself in 5 minutes, no need for a shop. I will say that after replacing shocks, steering damper and sway bar bushings (myself) and paying for new ball joints, my 200K miles T100 felt like new ... ride and...

    WTB 1st gen Tundra

Just FYI, my friend has a 1st gen AccessCab and it’s very roomy in the back. Less comfortable than my 3rd Geng Tacoma double cab but still fine to ride back there, and perhaps even more room for gear. If you can handle the suicide doors, I think an AC is better value and more useful.

Adventure Trailers New Window for the Habitat is Excellent

Thanks, after doing some research it did look like there are a lot of unhappy Dometic window owners. It does sound like you have a good product!

Adventure Trailers New Window for the Habitat is Excellent

Are these actually Dometic windows? Or are there multiple manufacturers offering near-identical clones?

    ARB Linx Install and Review

There’s a similar product available from Arboreal Systems that’s been on the market for a while. It doesn’t have some of the the 4wd specific features of the LINX (tire and airbag pressure), and needs external relays for really high current switching, but features its own power distribution and...

Hodakaguy's Overland Tacoma Builds - On to new adventures!

The Tacoma dash USB is a data and charge port and it’s painfully slow; I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s USB 1.0 and this just 0.5A.

    Three Generations in Death Valley.

Great trip - and report and photos! Getting to the top of Eureka Dunes with my daughter is a lifetime memory ... you’ll be glad you and your son took the time to do it.

Hodakaguy's Overland Tacoma Builds - On to new adventures!

Note that a dual 4.8A charger is really 2.4A (max) per USB port. This is pretty much the maximum that’s supported by most devices; Apple phones and iPads with Lightning won’t draw more than 2.1A, and I think pure USB 2.0 devices like most Android phones are 1.5A It’s hard to believe that anyone...

Help me decide: 5th Gen 4Runner vs FJ80/LX450 for a family of 5

Family of 4, not 5, but owned an 80 for 12 years, while our kids went from age 3 &5 to ages 15 and 17. Our son learned to drive in the 80. We never felt a lack of room, though we did sometimes use a rooftop cargo box (half width), mostly for skis or for camping gear with 6 or 8 people. Tackling...

Advice Needed:: To keep the Taco or not. Terrible economy.

I briefly drove a new 4wd diesel Colorado and liked it. A lot. But the math doesn’t lie ... buying a new vehicle is not great economics. Yes, the diesel option may be a good value with 100k mile (or whatever) payback vs the gas Colorado, but you’ll never recover it vs the Taco you own now. And...

    Hummer Builds

If it weren’t for the image thing, plus visibility and space efficiency, I think both H2’s and H3’s are very cool, and it seems GM did offer some pretty offroad-worthy options not available on regular pickups and SUV’s. A friend has a 5 cylinder H3 which I’ve driven briefly; he’s a hardcore and...

    Increasing Tacoma Payload Capacity?

Pretty sure the T100 has the same rear diff as the 1st gen Tundra and Sequoia, and some Tacoma’s, not the “mini-truck” (Hilux) diff. Front diff is the same as the mini, just wider axles.

    sPOD vs Switch Pros

This product does require external relays to switch high current devices, and also requires using your smartphone for display and control of functions, but it’s cheaper than either and very capable: https://www.neutrinoblackbox.com/ Screenshot below is the app on my iPhone, connected to the...

    Increasing Tacoma Payload Capacity?

This will be subjective, not data-based, but I switched from a 4wd T100 to a 3rd gen Tacoma TRD OffRoad. After 2 years and 45K miles I love it ... but it does feel much lighter duty in every way than the T100. I put many miles on the T100 with a FlipPac and really never noticed it was there...

    Leentu Campers

I’ve been following them for a while on Facebook and IG. Interesting ideas. But ... there’s been no technical detail, unlike GFC and Vagabond. And I’m kinda surprised that they’ve relied on getting the word out through conventional social media and not the Tacoma or overland community like the...

Lower ball joint issue on pre-Tacoma trucks?

I replaced mine around 175K/18 years on my old T100 and handling and ride improved noticeably. But I never felt at risk. New shocks, steering damper and sway bar links and bushes as well, and the front end felt like new.

Ditching my RTT; Need ideas on Camp Set-ups - Post Pics!

^^^ If the GFC and Vagabond guys offered a tent extension like what you've circled up there, it would be awesome for us shortbed guys. Sleep one or two upstairs, one or two downstairs.
