To get the trailer licensed I needed to get it weighed so I ran down to the nearest scale and had it weighed.
Empty, meaning no tent, awning, etc it came up to 1,460. I booked an appointment to get the trailer inspected for licensing mid January, I was surprised how far booked out they are.
In...
Yes, for lifting.
After weighing each item:
The rack is 108 #
Batwing is 47 # (Right where manufacture states it is)
Tent is 286 # (Minus annex)
That's 441 #
Add friction in the equation, which is the 'X' factor, some sleeping bags and Doritos and it should be a pretty close show..
As for...
I figured out the weight of the rack, bat wing, and tent. I also took into account the drag affect of the friction of the rack sliding in and out.
I ordered part # 018318W from:

They have 120# lift each with a 19 ¾ stroke which were the two...
Sorry for getting back so late, been gone for work...
I think I will hit Lowes and see about the orange outlet then.
Thank you for all the info above I really appreciate it...
Have a Merry Xmas all......
With Gaia on my iPad is there an external GPS antenna that I could get. My concern is the terrain of BC's West Coast and I have used the basic GPS on my app in the PNW and it fades in and out.
I picked up a power inverter that has 2 outlets on one end for plugs.
I want to mount the inverter in a trailer tongue box and then mount an outlet on the outside of the tongue box.
My question is, can I simply make a plug on the end of a wire and plug it into the inverter, then take the other...
Dropped the rack into place today and mounted levels on 3 sides under the rack.
Used these levels: https://www.amazon.com/Spirit-Accurate-Standard-Acrylic-Sensitivity/dp/B00X2BRZYS
Next step is picking up gas struts to raise the rack and installing them...
...
Good point!
I will do the gas struts first and get the right struts dialed in first. At that point I will reassess whether or not I need the pulleys and winch to retract it.
Thank you for that... I think I've looked at too many builds with too many ideas in my head....
The rack is now painted, 3 coats of base 2 coats of clear.
I finished wiring the lights and connected them to the pigtail that will connect to the tongue box.
I purchased some pulley wheels with bearings and made some brackets for them. I will use these to assist in brining the rack down after...
To lower it I am considering using a cable pulley system and something like this:

I've seen a few other M416 builds where this type of setup was used and seems to work well.. Meaning simple and electricity free.... Not the...
I like your, looks almost identical, bummer you don't have it anymore... Heck if the right Unimog Doka comes my way I amy not have mine some time in the future.. :)
Thank you,
Wesco brought their portable color match machine outside and placed it on my Jeep door.
The machine does all the calculating to get the color as close as possible.
Seems to have gotten pretty darn close....
I haven't made it that far, the holidays & work have slowed things down....
I believe I will be using the struts that are exposed (not inside the tube).
Putting them inside the tube would be a P.I.T.A. to replace and really not necessary other than for aesthetics and theft deterrence which when...
Welded on the brackets for the Batwing today. Also picked up a pigtail wiring set up for the rack...
Next is wiring up pigtail and paint the rack.
