Beauty in Tow: Lightweight Camper Roundup

While they are more than barely functioning at the the base price, I will have to say with the ability to add a tonne of upgrades, your prices will skyrocket. I mean, if you are a highway traveler who stops at KOA campgrounds go for it. If you prefer San Raphael Swell, make you rig suited for...

@Keith Starr Thanks for that shot of the underside of the trailer. I've been wondering about the water connection and wiring. What did you end up with for a brake controller?

Which trailer do you have? Now, I'm almost worried about getting up or down the Burr trail/road. It is 28" longer than my JJ.

I'm going from a Jumping Jack Tent trailer to a Teardrop and would have to say that we have done some fairly rugged off roads, though we won't be doing that as much with the Teardrop. Cathedral Valley in Utah is a pretty rugged trail as is Mojave road. We have gone 60 miles off road doing a...

App or program to draw schematics.

I had seen this. I will look into it. I have apple products but I will look into this. Thank you. Thank you. I have Gimp, is there an add on for the diagrams or am I overthinking it?

App or program to draw schematics.

I've seen some really cool drawing of your wiring systems on this site and wanted to know what app or program you are using to draw these. I am looking for something that has the correct symbols for 12v dc systems, including fuses, buss bars and fixtures. I would like it also to be inexpensive...

I learned a couple things today from a phone conversation. They no longer offer the rear swing out with the spare holder, sink, cutting board and other options. For the 510 XS, you do not need the extended tongue option in order for the expanded metal cage with locking lid and the front tongue...

How does a 4runner tow an XVenture???

I tow an 1100 lb. Jumping Jack that we've had for five years. Lots of miles, I live in the West so lots of hills and passes and have been over 10,000 feet pulling this. 114 F temps down to 8F. I have lt tires and like Pat, I have air bags that seem to work just fine. I get regular service and...

This was quoted from the 12v DC thread: I have other things in my battery box, am not good at the service for LA batteries, go from hot to cold temps often in one day and had extra money so I went with the AGM. Group 27 105ah five years old so I'm happy.

Thank you for the pics. I noticed this isn't on the work sheet but there are several things that aren't. I'll call and find out more on Monday.

I was under the impression that was the only way to get the locking basket and front storage box to fit. The basket will hold my chairs, inflatable kayaks, spare fuel and etc. The pneumatic jack is on my list too along with three leveling jacks. I always felt roof baskets/trays make things top...

Not as much as you think. These are not heavy and it really makes your kitchen area easy to use. I was hesitating because of cost and thinking I could make it myself. Here are two pics the I had in my collection. Not great but better than nothing. Luckytibbs pics will be better.

I have been vasilating between having the swingout back or not. I don't have a spare tire to mount on it but having the cutting table and sink is really cool with maybe a trash container (trasharoo). We are out for long periods too with out JJ and always need the space. You don't happen to have...

We'll be messing up the bed most of the time anyway so it shouldn't be a problem. I just would feel better knowing I had the room even if I didn't need it all the time.

We're going for as much storage as we can get. Tongue box, expanded metal cage with locking lid, under mattress storage and marine finish cabinets. I am going to get the roof rack brackets so I can mount my solar panel and road shower.

Currently with our 32 gallons we can stay out about the same number of days depending on the weather. The warmer it is the shorter the time. We have a road shower which also has 4.5 gallons of water.

    Moby1 / SoCal Owner Reviews

The door leakage issue has been worked out on So-Cal trailers. It is well documented in the So-Cal thread. If you search for a thread about teardrop owners regrets, you will find a nice thread about what people think about their td's.
