    Go with all soft shackles?

This time of year about every time I go head out, monthly or more. In the winter I get calls often but the chances are getting slimmer and slimmer I will help you. Most of the time people have issues in the winter is because they are dumbasses and I don't want to enable dumbassness anymore...

    Go with all soft shackles?

Every few years I break a recovery strap. I have had the same wire cable on my winch until 200l. I keep my recovery gear in a back pack, I run my cable or strap through the straps on the back pack. When a strap breaks it makes a popping noise and falls to the ground, very uneventful. One time...

    Go with all soft shackles?

I have had the same winch you have and the same line since 2001. Cable lasts, rope is easier to deal with. If you want rope just keep up with and be prepared to change it more often. I will never go with a rope cable because of the environment I am in, but that's me.

    Go with all soft shackles?

Most don't consider that. At work every rope used that for life safety has its own log. EVERYTIME it is used it is inspected and logged.

15 years (so far) with this TJ!

I came home from Kosovo the first Sunday in February 2001, by the end of the next day I had my brand new TJ and still have it. It taken me cross country MO/TN to CA a few times. I have towed with it on some of the trips, it has been a daily driver (106 mile commute) in Southern CA. I have had...

    Go with all soft shackles?

Metal ones hold up longer but rope are lighter. I am end up doing more recover in muddier wetter situations so I have decided to stick with metal shackles and wire rope. I have a recovery strap that is made out of some sort of nylon poly whatever, I have had a few over the years because they...

First Ten Things to Purchase Before an Overland Adventure

I guess it all depends on how, where and how long you travel for. I go for short outings with others, we are never that far from civilization. If you are going out as a group no one person needs to have everything. Those of you heading out alone will need more, esp the further you get away...

    Is my Jeep too heavy?

I think many of the die hard wrangler guys (maybe not the JKU, JK or JLs as much) got Wranglers because we were into off-roading first and then stumbled onto this. Size, maneuverability and suspension are what make Wranglers great off road but they are the same things that make it harder to use...

If they are technically proficient in what they do and then the t terrain is not overly technical for them.

ANYBODY who drives and overloaded vehicle on any surface is foolish.

    Is my Jeep too heavy?

what type of fool would go on an overly technical trail with an overloaded rig or a trailer?

    Is my Jeep too heavy?

To an extent I will agree but many of the reliability / mechanical issues you speak of will be greatly increased when you over load your vehicle, maybe more so than towing within the weight limits the vehicle is designed to tow. I would be more concerned about tire failure with an over loaded...

    Is my Jeep too heavy?

Why not get a trailer if you are carring allot of weight?

best onboard air system for tires, shower, accessories

It has a bracket with holes for mounting built into it. If has an inline fuse. I have mine wired to fuse box dedicated for accessories but no relay. There is a switch on the compressor. I have had one hard wired like that since about 2006.

    Power inverter vs generator

We have walked away from it just to hear how far the noise travels. Most campgrounds have silent hours past ten. Most run ACs on their RVs all night, they are far louder than my setup. The ranger or camp host making their rounds makes more noise. My AC is small and will run of the "eco mode"...

    Power inverter vs generator

These quiet generators make less noise than a car idling. When I used it I put it behind the trailer and you not could hear it from the road. I would but a few totes around it to deaden noise even more. It would be running primarily afternoon into evening for AC. The large AC units on motor...

    Power inverter vs generator

I have a cargo trailer spring over on 33s. I will probably put a pintle hitch on it and we will more than likely take another vehicle. There will be no microwave. I haven't had a lab top or desk top in a decade. I'm going to have to look into the press for coffee.
