If the rig is going to be family driver why are you going with the 33's? As you found out, they are going to rob power, gas milage, etc... The 31s are great on road and have decent off-road manners, why not stick with them? Nothing is being gained by going larger.
I've run 31x10.50, 32x11.50...
They are the same parts numbers I installed on my 95 3.5 liter DOHC engine earlier in the year. Also, same part numbers are listed in the thread in the Mitsubishi tech section on 4x4wire.
Believe you have the 3.5 liter SOHC in your rig. I'm not sure if the bolt is the same for both engines.

Yea - you may want to specify the vehicle you are buying the bolt and washer for.
Also, did you check the 4x4wire site? Pretty sure there is a thread in the Mitsubishi Tech section that specifies the numbers.

The lower ball joint only goes in one specific way. IIRC right hand side goes in first at bit of an upward angle.
Do not have to remove hub or lower control arm. Though you may need to tie the hub back up to get it out of the way. Also, try removing the jack from under LCA to get it a low...
The ABS sensors get rusted into place. You can leave the sensor in place and remove hub. Disconnect the wire from the upper control arm and follow it back to the frame. It disconnects just on the other side of the frame.
I've personally seen this happen once to my second Montero. Then have read about it happening 4 or 5 others.
I think it's a defect but not a major issue.
I'm running 33x12.5 on stock rims. I have the t-bars cranked and 2 inch coil spacers in the rear.
They rarely rub but when they do it is on the fender.

No experience with mount plate but a buddy helped me welded up mine.
