MB 1120 Coming to America! Purchase, Build and Now Travel!

Thank guys, unfortunately due to my "field repair" welding may not be an option. After 2 layers of JB Weld and a fiberglass/resin wrap the thing still leaked (I have had this pipe out 3 times now). Bit of a gobbed up mess now. This company https://www.marisausa.com/, lists Eaton and Aeroquip and...

MB 1120 Coming to America! Purchase, Build and Now Travel!

Well we finally made it out of Death Valley, but just barely. When the bearing on the water pump shattered the pulley slid forward. What arrested the forward movement was the aluminum hydraulic lines for the power steering. Well the pulley chewed into both the pressure and return. I looked at...

Hey Jonathan, hopefully you are back home and enjoying Christmas with the family (Merry Christmas, hopefully some new truck toys showed up). It is a 2008 Kawasaki Super Sherpa. This is definitely the most distance/speed/weight we have tortured the bike with. Yesterday was about 200 miles up and...

MB 1120 Coming to America! Purchase, Build and Now Travel!

All I want for Christmas is a new coolant pump (which in fact I was able to get a factory original shipped overnight and picked it up today!). Why you ask? Well while driving down a remote corrugated dirt road many miles away from anything (including cell service) we heard a racket coming from...

    1120 AF Build in Norway

Not sure but the fast assemble frp/grp box looks very much like our total composite box. So much so I think they use the same pictures and adhesives. Might just be the same manufacturer? http://www.trailerbull.com/fast-assemble-frp-grp-truckbody.html

Although way more expensive I would seriously look into Outbound roof windows. We do not have leaks now but have had to pull both hatches up due to the Sika 252 not bonding to the plastic, and the sun causing the plastic to distort a bit. When we pulled them up we abraded the underside of the...

On thing about your rear leaf springs. We have the same ones and to get the rear low enough we had to remove the factory spacer blocks and use just a single 25mm one that we got from DFF. Also the front spring hanger will require a custom washer as the front of the spring is narrower than the...

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

The 1124 sounds interesting. Does it have the 5 or 6 speed? I ask because these trucks are not really geared for highway driving. There is though a 6 speed swap that gives you an overdrive. If the truck was in nice condition and had the 6 speed it could make a very nice truck. We have the 1120...

    Drop in replacement alternator 150A

I think the Redarc only pulls 25amps from 24V for an output of 50amps at 12V. Currently we have a Sterling DCDC charger, it was the highest output I could find of 70 amps at 12v (35 amps at 24v). Not sure I could recommend it though as we have already had one fail. We have a 100 amp alternator...

    Drop in replacement alternator 150A

No rush Joe, but would you mind sending me your VIN (message here on the portal or email)? You have the only civilian LN2 (not a firetruck/military truck) I know of and have some very interesting options (air suspension, 200amp alternator, AC etc). It is much easier to dig into a truck with the...

    1120 AF Build in Norway

The "Armstrong" system has a bit of assist with a spring, sort of like a garage door, then a locking strut once in position. It was actually pretty easy when we got the truck but adding about 100lbs of sound deadening, air ride seats and a rooftop AC really made it a bit more difficult. If I can...

    1120 AF Build in Norway

We have the not so reliable "Armstrong" system ?. Seems the Swedish firemen were plenty strong to heave the cab up. From what I have gathered MB used a bunch of different lifts, depending on the size of the cab. From the bit in your picture it looks like the one that would have been installed on...

The next time you have your can tilted could you take a couple of pictures of the hydraulic ram that tilts the cab? Especially the attachment point to the cab. Really wish ours had come with one.

Been a bit "internet challenged" lately but have sorta decent service now so here are a few pics. These are all in Utah, which has some really amazing places all within a short distance from each other. Pairia Town (long ago abandoned) Bryce National Park Kodachrome State Park Peek A Boo...

Just thought of this, when I started our build GXV only sold completed trucks. They are now offering panels, I would look into those and see if they sell their windows/doors. I also have a contact in N.C. that may be willing to build the panels. They are a high end power cat boat builder with a...

The Term hatches just don't seem robust enough for full time use (though no problems yet). They are all plastic and even when fully closed you can lift them up by hand a bit. We do not have a pass thru but I can imagine they bounce around on rougher roads. What would I choose? Either a marine...

    Exhaust Brake

So now I see what the small pneumatic cylinder does near the injector pump. Makes sense it shuts the fuel off when using the exhaust brake/shutoff switch. Since my throttle pedal sinks a bit when pressing the switch I am now wondering if my throttle pedal linkage needs adjusting (maybe I have...

    Exhaust Brake

Thanks again, just came across a great article from Banks about diesel engines and exhaust brakes https://official.bankspower.com/tech_article/how-an-exhaust-brake-works/. Never realized fuel would be needed for braking.

    Exhaust Brake

So, since this is the first truck I have ever owned that has an exhaust brake I have a question. I use the brake frequently, but especially when I am at higher RPM I notice the throttle pedal automatically depress while exhaust braking. First, is this normal and if so does anyone know why it is...

    Uprated Shocks

The only issue I have with the Marquart shocks is there is very little info available on their website to what you are actually buying. Wish they had the technical details so I could do a side by side comparison with other brands. I think I may have stumbled (and stumble is the key as Fox shocks...
