From our manual
5.7.5 Tire inflation connection The tire inflation connection is on the front of the pressure regulator. Remove the protective cap for the tire seal and connect the tire inflation hose. Lower the supply pressure in the compressed air system to approx. 6 bar, e.g. B. by...
So in my ever so slow learning of our truck I now realize Mercedes included a tire inflation port as standard. Included with the truck when new was an inflation hose, but we didn't get it when we bought our truck. Now looking at the manual this factory original hose screws onto a rubber capped...
A picture of today's progress. The rack is now tack welded (this pic is about an hour old, all mounting points are tacked). It comes back off tomorrow for finish welding and adding mounts for the lights and horn. Should finish it today, Heather and I will burnish it prior to install. While doing...
So after a week of visiting friends and doing a few truck projects (dual 7" lightbar for backup lights, remote electric fuel solenoid to switch tanks, wiring for future cab light bars) the work has started on the cab light bar/roof rack. Using 2" aluminum tube and have several of the bends...
You know, it might make sense to buy a used windows laptop for use in the shop. Then you wouldn't have to worry about getting a nice laptop grungy while working on the truck. There is a lot of info in the WIS, like torque settings for various bolts. I end up printing the pages out to save my laptop.
If you have not already you should get the EPC/WIS manual for these trucks. I got is as a download and installed it on my Windows PC. If you search on Ebay you will find it. The WIS portion (Workshop Manual) has all this info. The EPC (parts manual) will have all part numbers for your specific...
Alright, so I reused an air line that used to go to the air mast on the old firebox to tie into our DC compressor tank. Well I have learned that is not a good spot. It is now connected just to the right of where the hardline comes in (hardline is just to the left of the air filter. Apparently...
Been a busy few weeks since our engine mishap. Sorta moved into high touring gear to have a bit of fun. So we made a quick stop at the Hoover Dam and Lake Meade. Did an interesting loop hike to a hot spring and then the next day headed to the Grand Canyon. Some of you may know but hiking down...
Most of our wiring runs are inside the cabinetry, just try and visualize the wiring getting from point A to your panel. The only ones that run inside the composite panels are the ceiling ones for the lights, MaxxFan (plan on one of those,we have ours in the bathroom and is also our light) and AC...
With the table, if I remember correctly there are some tracks you can mount underneath to move it side to side. A lot of the conversion vans use the Lagun mount. We wanted a solid table and are happy with the table and the pedestal we have.
What are your plans of the rear of the truck? Are you...
One thing I have learned is there is no perfect boat (or in this case overland truck) for everyone. Each build is a compromise and works towards what works for you and what fits in your budget. For us we love the U-shape dinette even if it is a little tight on the driver's side, but we are...
One thing about building a truck like ours in the USA is there are actually very few rules. Good if you have the time and skills but really very time consuming but helpful to the budget. Any chance you could work with a licensed installer having them approve some of your work? That can happen...
All Hose came thru and fabricated us a new high pressure line (it did require a bit of massaging to get into place). They did not stock the pipe for the low pressure so they welded up the damaged bit. So all is back together and we are back moving. Since All Hose also stocked metric air fittings...
I would try and work in some floor to ceiling walls, I did that as close to the middle of the habitat as possible to help support the roof panel and stiffen the side walls (our empty box felt a bit flimsy, but the walls stiffened it right up). I would recommend building your seating area raised...
That looks to be the rear hanger on the front spring. What I am talking about is the front hanger on the rear spring. You will see the post that the front of the spring attaches to. The post is a larger diameter than the threaded end. So when you tighten the nut the washer (very thick washer)...
Just talked with All Hose in Vegas. They think they can make up the lines. I just pulled the lines (I am getting really good at this as this is the 4th time) and sent them a picture to try and confirm as we need to rent a car to get there. I also just sent Rob a text about the pipes, though I am...
Not quite yet but I am partially the way thru. I currently have a 24v DC compressor (which in hind site I should have gone with 12v and run off the house bank) from Viair with a separate 5 gallon tank. I have quick connect air fittings on each side of the truck. I have on my TODO list to tie in...
Well I learned something this morning, the high pressure line can be up to 1160 psi (once again Stefan comes thru). If I would have know that I would not even attempted the patch. He came up with a few different scenarios, bend a new pipe (my favorite idea), weld the current pipe (which would be...
