I noticed it's been over a year since you posted here. Do you still have the camper? I've been searching for somebody with this first gen double cab Tundra and the OVRLND camper built. I have almost the same exact scenario as you. Two kids and a dog, the wife and I were thinking with the kids...
I just remembered you replied to me on the previous page. Thanks for all the insight! Yep that balance of size and space is why I wanted a first gen. So glad to have 4x4 now as well.
Working on the build sheet right now. Want a little extra bedding height, ventilation for the dog, flip up...
I'm putting my double cab long bed Tacoma up for sale, and I recently purchased a 2006 Toyota Tundra double cab. I've been looking at these for a few years and finally pulled the trigger. My kids are getting bigger, so it was getting tight in the Tacoma. And I decided I want to put a camper...
Just wanted to say I'm looking at getting one of these campers. Going to read through this entire thread over the next few days. I currently have a 2006 2wd double cab long bed that I love, but it's getting tight in the cab on long trips with wife, 2 kids, and dog. And, it's 2wd. It's served me...
Very cool of you to pass this onto someone on this forum who will make good use of it. This truck is a prime candidate for a 4x4 conversion, or should be just fine on the trails as the PreRunner that it is. Congrats to the new owner!
just to post an update to this thread... I ordered the Truetrac for my 2wd Tacoma prerunner. the 4x4 market is nuts right now and i gave up looking. going to enjoy my paid off truck on some great camping trips this year. mostly desert and mountain dirt roads and dispersed camping areas.
i've decided... going to put one of these in the rear of my 2wd tacoma. not trying to make this a dedicated wheeler... just want some assurance when i go places offroad for camping and exploring.
