I think I will test drive my bnl and sis's 80 and LX450 (respectively) tomorrow night. His brother has a 100 that I can test out.
Perhaps I might end up with a SMB!
I would "throw" the 8 & 9 year olds in the 3rd row. Put the two in car seats and my 14 year old in the 2nd row.
An 80 would be cheaper... how much more "hip/butt" room does the 100 have over the 80 for the driver? I am a solid 225 at 6-1.
Yes, reliability is what I am asking. I know the "reputation" that landies have for being unreliable - but that mainly speaks to the electronics of the vehicles. I know my rangie through and through and wouldn't hesitate to take it anywhere in the world - but it doesn't hold 7 people! How are...
Prefer any buyers to look at her in person as pictures do not do the good and bad justice. Selling her to finance another project that is more family oriented. Sad to see her go but life takes us in different directions.
Thanks for your input! How do you think a 100 series would hold up on a 30-60 trip to Alaska? (Towing a small trailer for gear of course!)
You either know a lot about landies or know very little.:bike_rider: (BTW... I wouldn't hesitate to take my rangie anywhere.)
I will still have a Land Rover for the more "hard core" trails. Whatever I do get for a DD/trip vehicle, I am well aware that I will need a trailer for gear due to fitting 7 people inside. Now if I could only get my wife to green-light a Sportsmobile....:victory:
Hence the trailer!:chef:
A suburban does not scream "Adventure!!!" to me. I might as well be driving a mini-van! (Apology to all those 'Burb drivers out there.:snorkel:) I have no need to drive a Suburban around town and to work with that kind of mpg.
OK, let's move past the whole "room...
No can do. Suburban is too wide and too long for most of the trails I do.
And no way in H-E-Double Hockey Sticks am I paying over $50K for a 200 series! Shoot, might as well get a Defender or trick out my 109 for that amount of money. Hmmm... looks like I just answered my own...
My bnl has an 80 and an LX450. His brother has a 100. I drove the 80 and LX450 and figured out very quickly it was too small for me. So you think a 100 series would be too small too? I have two kids in car seats and the older three are 8, 9, and 14.
How is the pulling power in your 100?
Educate me. I am looking for a DD/family trip (b/c I can sell a "trip" vs an "expedition" to my wife) type vehicle that meets the following criteria:
1 - able to hold 7 people
2 - decent mpg
3 - pull a small gear trailer with ease
4 - able to do mild to moderate trails
5 - 2" or 3" lift...
