    Salvaging a drowned jeep

Years ago a neighbor worked for Standard Oil. He drove a Jeep and towed a Jeep from Toledo to CO. He did trade off the tow vehicle on occasion so both broke in equally. They did drive them through a few rivers in the field, went back to camp at the end of the day, drain the gearboxes and refill...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Huh, I drove my 3B to the hamburger place. Nothing I need to do to it. I tow out new Jeeps on a regular basis:ylsmoke:.

    high mileage motors for overloading

A lady friend has over 300,000 on her 4.0 and due for a water pump again and the transmission is a bit wonky.I have over 200,000 on my Volvo, I did had to change the clutch at 140 k, basic stuff like a timing belt and a PS pump. I knew a guy that had a Monte Carlo, over 550,000 on it and it had...

    Therapy dogs

I was reading a post last night about a German Shepard that a fellow was going to use as a therapy dog. I know my parents used to take my Black Lab in to visit their mothers and the 'ol girls loved the furry beast. As did many others in the facility. Is there something people need to get through...

    Moab Spring Break 2015

You did get to some of the good areas out there. Lots more places for you to find, in the hills and in town. A friends son does most of his climbing around Newspaper rock or in the Lavendar Canyon area.

    Brake wear expectations? Upgrades?

Hmmmm, adjusted my brakes once in 66,000 miles on the Mitsu. Some people must wonder if my brake lights work since I only use them to slow from about 3 MPH, usually. Yes, I've had to stomp on them before and they work fine. I just try to anticipate what's coming up and use the gears and exhaust...

The Adventure Continues - Sedona to the Grand Canyon

Sort of like them little bastids up on the ski hills around here. No way I could keep up with them. But I started skiing about 15 years later than them And knew how much a yardsale can be painful

The Dogs of Overland Expo 2015

A neighbor has a red heeler. The joke is that we think it's smarter than it's owner. At least Ringo doesn't drink or smoke "funny" stuff

From Midland Texas to Salt Lake City Utah

Other than the motor doing what it did, it looks like a fine way to travel.

Water Health in Limpopo Province, South Africa

It's good that you did what you did. My friend has worked in many places in the world and I believe it was his first trip to the middle east that he got sick. He pretty much stayed in the bathtub with the shower running for 2 days. A few years ago he went to S America with some co workers. He...

MTWheeler's First Jeep! '42 Willys MB

There is only a few threads I can read on this forum without being whizzed off about how some people waste their money, but being a former MB owner I will read yours. Somehow, my 3B manages to get me where I want to get to and manages to winch out other vehicles.

Overland Expo 2015 to Utah Lockhart and more....

We drove Lockhart basin a few years ago but we started at Indian Creek and came back on the highway. The trailer was mostly intact then. Missed the plane crash site. There is a landing strip out in that area. Nice thunderstorm on the way back to camp. I think I removed as much moisture from the...

    My Journey

Always a bit of a question when you send $ across the world, at least you knew who you were sending it to. I have A friend has worked about everywhere in the world. An older guy he worked with (WWII vet) said that he will only give money to Salvation Army. The only people that showed up at the...

Road trip/Adventure/offroading to Utah and Colorado...

I'm happy that you finally made it to the end of that trail. There is also a trail about 1 mile from Dewey bridge that takes you to a similar overlook. It might be one of the unnamed trails. A friend that used to mountain bike out there named it Power Pole Valley. Some of the power lines running...

    SNAPSHOT: Lockhart Basin Rd

Probably 98% of that road I did in 2WD high range, then again I have 5:38 gears and a V6 in my Jeep and a powerlock rear axle. The best part was driving out of Moab in a good thunderstorm with only an umbrella top. There's a reason I have a squeege in the Jeep to clean the inside of the windshield.

    SNAPSHOT: Lockhart Basin Rd

Actually, the teanager driving the F350 had no traction issues on the trail, the long wheelbase sort of kept his tires out of the holes dug by other vehicles, a diesel, 5 speed and low range says that he never ran out of power and I think he has something in the rear axle to help as well. Years...

"Bruce" the 2014 Jeep JKUR Build Thread

You need to find the right sedate dog and work from there, let him choose his own pace. If he sees you scratching a peaceable animal, over time he may get brave enough to touch it and decide he likes the furry critter. Puppys are fun but they aren't quite civilized yet and might be a bit...
